Should be renamed the "Bread Boss"
For the money, this is a decent pot. With the addition of a cast iron handle, it makes a fantastic bread oven. As you might expect, at this price point, the cast iron is not super smooth inside or out, but it is smooth enough to use as a bread oven. I lightly sanded the interior of the shallow "lid", washed dried and re seasoned it so I wouldn't have to use parchment paper for baking bread. The deep base of the pot was outfitted as a lid with a 10" cast iron handle, held in place with round head brass machine screws and brass lock nuts. This required carefully drilling two threaded holes into the cast iron for the screws. If you're looking for a large bread oven that doesn't cost a lot, you may want to consider this. It's a great option for baking extra large loaves. No parchment paper and NO sticking! Be forewarned, this is a heavy pot! To keep it seasoned, it's getting washed after each use, dried and lightly coated with oil before putting away.I couldn't be any happier.

I LOVE This Dutch Oven
I use this Dutch oven to make the best looking sourdough bread loaves you can imagine. I invert it and place the bread on the upside down lid. Then, I cover it with the bottom like a big lid. Works perfectly every time. Tips: Place a baking sheet or two underneath if your bread gets too dark on the bottom. Preheat the Dutch oven to desired temp and give it 20 minutes to heat through before putting your bread in it.

Great as a bread cloche but that’s not what it is
The media could not be loaded. This is a pretty hefty cast iron roaster. Pay attention to the measurements and don’t expect it to be something it’s not. (My photos show depth, width, and length) It’s narrow and long, and heavy. Make sure to properly season it like all cast irons and don’t let water sit on it for long. It does well over open flame does a good job roasting meats and veggies that actually fit inside it.Now people rating this poorly because it didn’t work for their bread journey is a little unfair.I have been using it for over a year and a half— and yes, I mainly use it for making bread. Its intended purpose is not for that, but yeah, it can be used for it with some adjustments. I turn it upside down and bake on top of the lid, and close it with the bottom part. I have make-shift foil handles, that I loop through the actual handles. Just be careful because foil can only be so strong. Use common sense and don’t burn yourself. So far, it holds in steam really well and takes ice cubes without cracking. My batards are typically made with 350g flour, so anything more than that, you’d have to make sure the dough is really narrow.

Heavy duty
This is really heavy duty. The quality is as good as all of my Lodge stuff. Catch it on sale and you won't be disappointed.
