Just what I needed!
I bought this product to protect my entry doors from the wrath and joy of my little rescue dog. When the doorbell rings, Max claws at the front door and jamb in a fury, trying to get to whoever dared to ring the bell. Also, when I return home through the garage, he claws at the laundry room door and trim in excitement. My wooden doors were originally stained a dark color, which hid the evidence of his scratching pretty well. However, I recently painted the doors white, and realized Max was likely to ruin the new paint if I didn't take some precautionary measures. I looked at several similar items on amazon, but the Clawguard seemed to offer the best protection to both the door and jamb. It is very easy to install by slipping it over the doorknob. I haven't used the Velcro stabilizer yet, since the paint needs 30 days to cure before sticking anything to the door. However, it is already having the desired effect. I hung it with the smooth side to the door, and Max doesn't like the sound or feel of his claws on the textured side. Even if they didn't bother him, the Clawguard is designed in such a way that he can't push or scratch it out of the way of either the door or jamb. Of course, I do need to point out that Max weighs only 15 pounds and doesn't have the physical force of a larger dog. But for my purposes, the Clawguard works very well and is doing exactly what I hoped it would: keeping my energetic boy from ruining the doors and trim. My front door opens inward, which makes it very easy to use the Clawguard. My laundry room door opens outward, which requires a bit of maneuvering to close the door behind me as I leave. However, the Clawguard is flexible enough to allow me to gently push it inward as I close the door. I used strong scissors to trim the upper corners, rounding them off a bit so they don't catch my clothes as I walk by. This product has certainly saved the appearance of my doors and trim. I'm pleased enough with the performance and durability of the Clawguard that I hope to purchase a third one soon to protect my back door after painting it. I would recommend this product to anyone having a problem with their dog scratching their doors and trim.

Works for our 10 lb maltipoo
Good for small dogs, our 10 lb maltipoo does occasionally scratch on it and it easily protects our door. It came rolled up in a box so I had to leave it outside in the sun, under some heavy books to flatten it out. It's still not perfectly flat but it does the job fine. Because it isn't fully flat and there is a bit of bowing out, our dog started to bite at that area and unfortunately the plastic has experienced more damage from the biting rather than the scratching. I also set it up with the smooth side out as I think the textured side might encourage him to scratch more. Some people complained about this being too long or not wide enough, but this was the perfect length and width for our needs. It's easily removed from the round door knobs and very easy to set up, just need to pop it back in. Not sure how they would fare on long door handles. All in all, it seems to be very durable and is much cheaper than having to replace a door or frame.

Clawguard
I have a yorkie-maltese (mookie) mix so I needed a protector that went down to the floor since my dog is small and scratches the part of the door closest to the floor. Based on the pictures, I felt that the plastic would be long enough. As soon as I received the package, I put it to use. So far, so good. It works very well, however, the door I need it for is a french door so the plastic does not hang flat against the door. Because it doesn't lay flat, on windy days it swings around and taps the door. Still, I am pleased with the product. It was the best option I had considering I needed it for a french door. On windy days (which are really not very often), he barks to let me know he's ready to enter (since he's too scared to get close to the door) which is better than him scratching anyway. The product deserves 5 stars, but I'm giving it 4 because it works great on my door, but not perfect.

Not worth the money. Dog took it down easily.
Don't waste your money if your dog has separation anxiety and wants to open the door you install this on. I purchased the Clawguard to prevent my 1-year-old poodle mix from scratching the paint off my bathroom door. He has separation anxiety and tends to bark, whine, and scratch the door (on and off) for 20-30 minutes max before giving up and falling asleep. I installed the product on the inside of my bathroom door and secured it with the tiny velcro adhesive (provided) as instructed. I left my dog in the bathroom for about 2 hours. When I came back, the Clawguard was on the floor with bite marks on one side, and the velcro adhesive that was stuck to the door was no longer there. The product does not hold well on the door as my dog obviously just bit the side and pulled it down. If anything, I think the flimsiness of the plastic exacerbated his anxiety and caused him to fight more to get the product off the door handle. The "noise control" option does not control noise at all. It just means that you can install it with the smooth side of the plastic facing outside so your dog's nails don't scratch against a rough surface. There will still be a gap between the door and the plastic, so if you or your dog push against the guard, it'll move back and forth and make a sound if it hits the door itself (imagine the sound of plastic hitting a hard surface over and over again). A small piece of velcro isn't going to keep the guard in place. The concept was good (simple installation, no hardware for anchoring, etc.), but the design definitely needs work. As it is today, the product is definitely not worth the $25.

Not Enough Fasteners included
Product is decent but it needs to be better fastened to the door. My cats can get right under it. Only one 3M dual lock fastener was included, which is useless. For the price, at least 4 fasteners should be included. I had to buy them separately. Clawguard, you can do better.

Great Product/Great Customer Service
I purchased 2 Clawguard Shields to prevent my newly adopted (very large) rescue dog from scratching up sliding glass doors and a bedroom door. It was easy to install and totally did the trick. Now when she scratches to let us know she wants to go out, the doors are not being destroyed and the sound seems to reduce how much she scratches. One of the items developed a crack and I reached out to the company to let them know --- they responded the next day and immediately shipped a new one. Highly recommend.

Must buy!
This has saved my door and moudling. You can cut to size you need. I recently had to replace molding because my cats used the moulding as a scratching post. Looked awful!

Might work for some dogs, but not mine.
Short version: Pro: - Does protect the door frame. - may discourage certain dogs from scratching Con: - not sturdy enough for large dogs or persistent scratching - doesn't cover a large area of the door - if it isn't taped to the door or attached by removing the doorknob and putting it back, then clever dogs can swing it and scratch under it. This is probably fine for really small dogs, or dogs who scratch once or twice then give up. I foster dogs, so I separate them at mealtimes, when I am doing training with just one dog, and in general try to teach them to be in a room alone without being destructive. Training them to not to scratch at the doors is a process so to facilitate that I got these to protect the doors as they learned. At the time I purchased these, I had 2 dogs, a 70 lb red heeler mix and a 40 lb lab mix. I do keep their nails trimmed. Day 1 of using these, I closed the doors and came back to find that the red heeler mix shredded this mat into 4 strips within 5 minutes. I had the textured side out, didn't bother him a bit. I think he actually scratched more than he usually does when this was up. I opened the other door and the lab mix clearly didn't like the feel of this mat on his paws, so he scratched right next to the mat on the exposed surface of the door. I took them both down. Later on I got another foster who was about 30 lbs with the same door scratching issues, so I hung one of these back up, and taped the other one to the door next to it. That worked fine for him and he didn't damage the mat or door. These are probably fine if you have a dog who specifically jumps up at the opening of the door, as opposed to scratching the door in general and is less than about 50 lbs. I would recommend using another product if you have a dog that is persistently scratching.

Lasted 2 days
My retriever pulled and ripped it down and destroyed within a couple days, chewed all the edges. The tiny piece of velcro that stuck it to door isn't strong enough at all.

Ineffective
Overpriced and ineffective. Kept falling off.
