Within just a few days of running it, our family felt a huge difference—no more stuffy noses. The air in the room feels cleaner and smells fresher, and it does an amazing job of capturing particles. I want to emphasize other reviewers' point that it takes a few days before you feel the full effect.The low and medium settings are very quiet; we run it 24/7 in our bedroom, and it's just a gentle hum that we don't even notice. The sleep mode, which turns off all the lights, is a great feature. The high setting is definitely loud, but we use it when we are not in the bedroom to give it an extra boost, for example, after we have had our window open.At the start, I took out the filter every week to gently vacuum it; now, it’s every two weeks. It will be obvious to you how many particles it captures in your space, besides all the small ones you don’t see that the carbon part of the filter traps. It’s recommended that you replace the filters every 6-8 months, depending on the environment. In our case, we typically replace ours after 6 months because we live where there is a lot of pollen for most of the year.We use the “LEVOIT Genuine Core 300-P Replacement Filter” which is the standard HEPA and activated carbon filter. There are three other filters made specifically for pets, toxin removal, and smoke removal. We have not tried any of those; the core filter is sufficient for us.The only real consideration is the ongoing cost of the replacement filters, but for the massive improvement in air quality and the relief from my family's allergy and general "stuffiness" symptoms, it is absolutely worth it. We are already planning on buying a second one for our living room. Highly, highly recommend!

I got rid of my old air purifier years ago and thought I wouldn't need one anymore. After a few years of allergies, I decided to see what was out there, and I picked this specific 300S model from Levoit as my choice for a NYC apartment.This is the perfect size for most rooms. It's not too overpowered or underpowered; it's just right. I chose the 'S' version because it has Smart capabilities like using it via an app, and it can also be tied to an Alexa. Secondly, it uses less energy than the original 300 version.I have mine set to automatic speed and to only turn on during waking hours. I know that this air purifier works at detecting things, because as soon as someone lights up indoors, a moment later it turns on full blast to clear the air. I think it doesn't like it when people smoke in the house, ya know what I mean? Also, it doesn't like it when we're cooking and there's smoke in the air.Overall, this item is compact, the filter is generally supposed to last six months, and it's smart enough to clean the air only when needed. I am thinking of getting another exact model or the next size up. Highly recommended.

Quiet and effective at filtering cat hair. It has three different fan speeds and a sleep mode for an even quieter option at night. It helps with my cat allergies, and I keep it running all day and night. I’ve been using it for over six months, and now that the filter replacement signal has come on, I’ll be replacing it with a new one.
