Sphagnum moss comes in many forms, long & short fibered as well as chopped. It is a renewable resource that is harvested from bogs. AAA New Zealand Sphagnum moss is ideal for moisture loving orchids. The light, fluffy golden strands are clean and easy to work with. Don't be fooled by lesser grades of sphagnum moss, insist on top quality long fibered AAA New Zealand Sphagnum Moss or 5 Star Chilean Sphagnum Moss. Sphagnum moss can be used alone or mixed with other media. It is also an effective topdressing to increase humidity around a plant and a good base to use when mounting orchids. When moving an orchid from bark to sphagnum the plant should adjust quite readily. The opposite is not usually true, when moving from sphagnum to bark mixture it is recommended to go to a 50/50 mix the first year and on to the bark mix the second. Sphagnum moss is great for seedlings and young plants out of flask. It holds water exceptionally well, the rate at which it dries can be controlled when repotting; to keep moss wet longer, pack more tightly, to dry faster, pack loosely.

This is high quality Sphagnum moss and though the size received was wrong initially, the company sent another bag to make up the difference. I feel the moss is expensive but the quality is great so worth the splurge once in a while.

Great moss. Excellent quality. Very much worth the money spent. All of Repotme products are wonderful. A bit more expensive but truly great products and are very much worth the investment. After years of trying other products for my orchids, I am sticking with repotme for all my orchid needs. I can highly recommend the company and their products.

Previously I ordered the same product (AAA New Zealand Sphagnum moss excellent quality) from a different source ( (I don't want to name the other brand) 40 liters (wet) 500 gr (1.1lbs) dry bail for $25 free shipping).This moss from rePotme is sold as 2.5 gallon = 10 quarts in volume, not by weight, so before i bought it I asked how much it weigh, the seller replied:Greetings! We measure all of our medias by volume, so this bag has 2.5 gallons/10 quarts of prepared moss.
