This may seem like a stupid question, but when drilling, do you close the door and drill from the inside, drilling out? or it doesn't matter?

I drilled a 3/16" pilot hole from inside out, then took the correct size and drilled 1/2 way from inside 1/2 way from outside to avoid any splintering on either side.

Im confused, on description says to use 9/16 bit but on features it says 5/8. Which bit size should i use or does it not matter?

For all the obvious reasons, I wanted the smallest hole that would work. And I found it worked fine - albeit snugly - with a 1/2” hole slightly enlarged by running the drill bit in and out and around the hole. Also, a 1/2” drill bit is a lot more common, easier to find, than a 9/16”.

Question 3

Does this actually have a 220 degree viewing angle? 180 degrees is the most you would ever need, so I feel like the manufacturer is lying.

I am a satisfied customer of this door viewer product. But the 220 degree viewing angle claim - and illustration - are indeed lies - or at least falsehoods. Their illustration plainly shows an angle that shows *less than* 135 degrees, even though it is labeled 220. I have found some odd pattern of Chinese products whose makers/sellers are baldly lying about certain geometric angle measurements in their products, I don’t know why they think they can get away with that. One could conceive of a greater-than-180-degree viewer, but it would have no point in a flat door, and this Togu is definitely not such a >180 viewer. My own estimate is that this Togu’s about a 165-degree viewer, almost the same as the 170-degrees given here by Bill R., and the only other real number given here for the actual viewing angle. And that’s a quite respectable number, no need for them to be falsely claiming 220 degrees.

are the lenses glass or plastic?

All Togu door viewer lens are made of premium optical glasses, which offer an everlasting crystal clear view ;Togu never use plastic or acrylic, since these materials always lead to blurry view for plastic ageing as time passes.
