Simple. Basic. Works. Don’t require it’s own battery.
I had one of these for years. It was very convenient and easy to use to test the batteries I use the most. I also own a very expensive tester which tests a lot more kinds of batteries under loads. It requires its own internal batteries to operate. Because I use it infrequently I don’t keep batteries which could leak in it. So, it takes longer to load the batteries, use it, and unload the batteries. I had a few guests and my first one of these disappeared. Disappointed, I ordered this two pack. These are fast to use. They are a basic go/no-go test which is perfect most of the time. I have lost a lot of items which use these most popular batteries due to damage caused by battery leakage. Replacing them is expensive. Having this kind of tester allows me to quickly test. It’s easy to take a moment to check the batteries in multi battery devices to spot the battery going bad before it leaks. A lot of new batteries from top manufactures leak very early in life. One manufacturer replaced an eight pack of a new model AA battery in the month they were introduced. I opened the pack and one was already leaking. I tested the rest. Over half were failing. I sent them a video. They replaced them and because over half of them were bad I now never use that model. Testing batteries before they fail also saves me money by finding batteries that can still be used. It is a best practice to always replace all batteries at once in any multi-battery device. My kitchen sink faucet uses 6 AA. It starts to fail when a single battery goes bad. I replace them all. I keep the used batteries separate and I am able to reuse them in other devices. Having this kind of tester and reusing still good batteries has dramatically reduced my battery purchases. Because I ordered the two pack I was curious if the measured every battery the same. They do. I recommend these testers because they save a lot of money. They pay for themselves by avoiding damage to battery using devices and by allowing better battery use management to get the best use of every battery.

Good Inexpensive Battery Tester
This is a good cheap generic battery tester. Works testing AA, AAA, C, D, and 9 volt batteries. All of these battery testers are all the same most likely all made in the same Chinese manufacturer. Buy the least expensive best deal.

Inexpensive and accurate enough for quick tests. Probably won't break if treated well.
Conclusion: $5 for two of these things you pretty much can't lose. Great for quick tests!Pros:- Lightweight. Great for quick tests without pulling out a more accurate tester with long tangley test leads.I had a small pile of batteries to go through and it made the task quicker and easier.- Nice range of typical home batteries testable.- Straightforward operation.Cons:- Lightweight and not terribly durable feeling. But unless you mistreat it or leave it loose amongst a bunch of other tools, it likely won't break. The slider feels like it will eventually wear out and break with high enough frequency of usage so definitely not BIFL but you shouldn't expect that for the price. With good treatment it should last well enough.- I recommend running the slider back and forth a few times to loosen it up otherwise you can't really operate it with one hand as easily as is intended.- I was expecting it to be spring loaded so you only had to press in one direction to close the gap and test a battery but it's all manual which is a little cumbersome.- Accuracy could be better. With my nicer tester a bunch of batteries that were barely in "Good" range from some prior usage tested well into the "Good" range on this thing. Fully Charged Batteries will be completely to the right in the "Good" range. Keeping that in mind you can assess them correctly despite the lower accuracy.

I think they work?
They arrived as described and I think they work? My smart lock stopped working and the key pad would not illuminate (hallmarks signal the batteries are dead) so I ordered these as I feel like I’m replacing the batteries fairly often. I test every battery and they all showed yellow, not red, despite being completely out of juice. I ordered these testers as they were inexpensive and I wanted to know whether the issue was with battery use or the keypad. I’m assuming it’s a battery issue. In terms of functionality, these worked okay… but they should have read in the red zone. I took one star off for that. I took another star off because they don’t feel very sturdy or durable. It served my need, but I wouldn’t buy these if I was going to need them often or in a bind. They just don’t seem overly accurate or reliable.Would in order them again? No. Would I recommend them? Depends.

Great little tester
Works great. All these years I never know if batteries are the problem with my small devices or if the device is bad. So I go buy new batteries but don’t know if I should keep the older ones because they may have a little power left in them. Now I’ve gone through and tested all the batteries I have lying around and will recycle all the low ones. Gave the second one to my son. Love this simple battery checker.
