Classic
Prince Valiant was a groundbreaking cartoon, and this volume has been lovingly recreated from originals from the artist. The illustrations rise above other cartoons, and the story in spite of its jumps from one era to another is wonderfully crafted and enjoyable. I think this is the volume with the famous error in the name of a river near Rome.

The famous illustrated series in all of his colorul glory.
Every volume of this series astounds me with its beauty and style. We know that comic strip art of this quality no longer appears, and how wonderful that this classic has been preserved for adults and children alike to cherish and enjoy. Sometimes, I just sit and stare at a single panel for the longest time, marveling at Mr. Foster's consummate skill. The entire book series is perfectly presented, with introductions and notes and exciting extras. Dale Gutzman

The superb Prince Valiant Vol 7
All the volumes of Prince Valiant are superb for artistry, historicity and ongoing entertaining story line. This story is still continuing in a very fine way today. But it is nothing today compared to the earlier productions as seen in these first 7 volumes written and drawn in the 1930's and 40's. I have all 7 volumes and look forward to obtaining all that are produced.

The series slows down somewhat
This was an interesting read for me. Although I must have read them before in the card cover Fantagraphics series it was as if I was reading the strips collected here for the first time. I had almost no memory of them. This is almost certainly due to the fact that this is the first volume in the current series that goes beyond where the old Nostalgia Press series left off and I had read and reread that series many times. The artwork and the reproduction are top notch as always. The stories however are somewhat slower paced as Foster tries to balance the action with Valiant's domestic duties. Prince Valiant has accumulated quite the household by this point in the series. There is also an Introduction by current PV artist Thomas Yeates examining Foster's continuing influence on comic art. An interesting afterword examines Foster's advertisements for the Union Pacific Railroad.Highly recommended but I strongly encourage starting the series from the beginning.

Prince Valiant is as good today as when it was new every Sunday!
Growing up, this was my father's favorite comic; we came along and he shared the story with us every Sunday at the table. Now, years later, I have several of these nice hardbound volumes of the beloved story. The art is still some of the best ever in a comic, the story-line is proved by time to be good. These books are beautiful.Recommend!

Prince Valiant the hallmark of excellance in art
One of comic histories greatest comic strips sunday pages reprinted in their original glorious color as it was originally seen in newspapers. What else would one want from one of the greatest comic strips ever created. I must recommend this book for it's entertaining value and stunning art.Hal Foster's lavish work is a must for any collector of comic art.

Great!
From a family of fans of Prince Valiant, we enjoyed all of the books in this series which we've read. Heavy paper feels nice to the touch, and the hard cover ensures that this book will last. Reproduction of the art is good, and the story lines from years gone by are very enjoyable. We will be reading more in this series.
