This book is pure bedtime magic. “If Animals Kissed Good Night” has quickly become a family favorite in our nighttime routine. The rhyming text is calming and fun to read out loud, and the whimsical illustrations are just adorable. Each page imagines how different animal pairs would say good night, which is both sweet and a great way to introduce little ones to animal names and sounds. It’s the perfect wind-down book after a long day, especially when cuddles are involved. Pros: • Soothing, lyrical text • Cute illustrations • Engaging for babies and toddlers Cons: • May feel repetitive to adults (but kids love that!)

Omg this book is SO freaking adorable. Read it in the library over the summer and had to buy it for our son. The first page goes "If animals kissed like we kiss goodnight, sloth and her cub, in late afternoon's light, would hang from a tree and start kissing...." Other pages: "tiger cub and mama would kiss and then growl... wolf and her cub would kiss and then howl" The story is beautifully rhymed, the illustrations are great, and not too overwhelming or abstract like some baby books, and it has this adorable refrain every few pages of "and sloth and her cub? STILL kissing goodnight!" ahh! just so freaking cute. Probably my favorite baby book I've found this year, and I try to make it more engaging for our son (because it's totally a mommy favorite) by lifting him upside down whenever they do the sloth refrain and giving him kisses, which he finds hilarious. I bought this book on a whim because I thought it looked cute, and what a trophy I got! It is a board book, so I was honestly expecting it to be an extremely quick read with only a few pages, but boy was I wrong! This is actually a great children’s book length and makes an excellent bedtime story. There were so many animals in it, which my son loved, and it portrayed how each animal would kiss their child goodnight so creatively. And the artwork is beautiful. A lot of children’s books have bright and bold colors and dark outlines. This one is a very lovely contrast, with calm and serene coloring that all blends together with the words on the page. It is a book that you could read to a child of various ages. My son is only 6months old and he loves to reach and touch the pictures, and giggles madly when we act out some of the “kisses”. My niece is 8 years old and she loves reading and looking at this book too. I am extremely pleased with my choice and purchase. I’ll have to see what else this author has to offer!
