MEROCO Montessori Language Miniatures Objects

I use this product for language development and letter sound identification. We construct an alphabet floor puzzle and then match the items’ beginning sound to each letter. The set is comprehensive, the kids love it, and the price simply can’t be bea.

Not Montessori based. Phonemes are not accurate. Has a beer glass and a bottle of whiskey. Weird items for preschool age. Fun for sensory work in a sensory bin.

There are not objects for every letter and several of the vowel objects are not short vowels (ice cream, ufo, angel). I found no objects for A, F, J, K, Q, V, X or Y but there are 4 items for g, 5 for s and 2 each for w, h, e, b and l. The objects are fine, I just wish it was a complete set.

I bought this for a homeschooling activity for my daughter who had previously been in a Montessori program, and it was totally inappropriate for that purpose, despite the name. The animal figurines weren't very realistic looking and very cheap. The other objects were mostly branded junk food items (coca cola bottle, starbucks frappuccino, etc) and it included a mug of beer and a bottle of liquor. So... not the best educational tool.

Good little pieces, though the animals seem like the paint and features will rub off quickly. A, N, and B seemed short on items (one for A and N, I can’t remember for B) and I feel like some object choices confuse the early phonetic language learners (like Strawberry or Tree, so isolation of the S or T sounds). For the price, a good foundational start to build out a collection!

In this collection of items I was grateful for some new things to add to my Montessori letter boxes, but buyer beware- you will not have items for letters x, v, y, q, and n. Also- if you are trying to do true Montessori beginning letter sounds you will be disappointed by the amount of blends included in this mix. It was a good price for adding a few new objects, but still not helpful for filling all the boxes.
