Venus in the Blind Spot (Junji Ito) Review: Drawn with care and designed with love - I rarely write reviews, but I'm at a loss for words!, this book is STUNNING!, i was a bit disappointed when i noted that the cover was this kind of paper wrapping the book (high quality and like silicone to the touch) but when i removed it, oh man oh man! not only this paper cover is reversible and it has a different design, but also the hardcover is imprinted with a beautiful design, feels absolutely premium, the colored parts of the book were great and the addition to a couple of fully colored characters from other Junji Ito's works were a nice surprise, i would recommend this book to you even if you never read it and only display it! (it would be a crime, since the stories inside are fun and beautifully drawn, but who am I to judge?). If you like his work, buy it, if you like to display your books, buy it, if you like, body/cosmic horror in general buy it. Review: Horror Master Does It Again - So Junji Ito ... my wife is addicted to his writing and manga ... so when he was at SDCC ... I knew I was in trouble. So we went to his speaking engagement and the man is really brilliant (honestly I had no idea who he was prior to this) ... I felt bad for him because his hands are very badly gnarled because of years of drawing. But no one can take away the horror he inspires with everything he writes and draws. He creates horrors that give nightmares horrors ... the things he writes and draws is amazing and terrifying and beautiful at the same time. The stories are all enthralling and tell tales that will give you nightmares but you will soon realize that even your nightmares pale in comparison to the nightmares he is writing. It's truly awe inspiring to be honest. One day we will lose this horror genre master but for now, I recommend everyone buy his books and be both inspired and terrified.

Valuable Book by the Master Junji Ito
This is the second book I purchased from Junji Ito. Upon opening it, it felt like I was browsing a precious work of art. The book features 5 colored full page covers from Uzumaki and No longer human. It has two of my personal favorite stories (billions alone and enigma of amigara fault) which are significant stories. It also featured adapted stories of Edogawa Ranpo (the human chair), among others. Obviously the artwork is masterful and well worth the purchase. the quality of the book and paper is great as well.

One of the most beautiful Ito works by Viz.
I have plenty of Junji Ito books, almost every release in english and a couple in spanish. Specifically, Venus in the Blind Spot is one of the most beautiful ones. Design-wise and quality wise it just feels a step ahead from other Viz releases of Junji Ito. The cover is gorgeous, it comes with a couple colored pages, the paper itself feels very very nice, and the white finish is much better IMO than the yellowish one they have used on other releases. Some stories are very good (some others not so much but, that happens with every story collection). If you are a Junji Ito fan or just want to start collecting his works, this is definetly a must-have. Another good one to start with is Uzumaki of course.

Worth the hype, and cat approved
I am a fan of Junji Ito's work, and this book is a great addition to my collection. As other have mentioned there are a couple of repeated stories, but I enjoyed going over them again. The opening "Billions alone" is a great surprise, another chilling plot where I can't wait to flip the pages. Junji Ito is a master of using the medium to his favor, and it shows in this book. The book is high quality and includes more colored pages than previous publications. And last added bonus: My cat approves the book for naps! Overal a great purchase

This is a welcomed divergence from the quick paced lovecraftian horror the author is known for.
I've been slowly building a collection of Junji Ito's work, so this was a nice addition. The stories were a little more fleshed out than usual and there was something generally different about this selection of his compared to his other books. There was a recurring Gothic theme in a few stories, which I found interesting. But what I loved about this selection the most was the excellent use of suspense. Unlike his other works I've read, this selection often kept me on the edge of my chair. The art is amazing as expected and the cover is captivating. This anthology is a welcomed divergence from the quick paced lovecraftian horror the author is known for. There is also a short autobiographical piece which I thoroughly enjoyed. That piece sheds light on his early inspirations. I get the impression that this selection was more of a nod to the style of storytelling which originally opened him up to the genre of horror/weird fiction.

Venus in the Blind Spot is a fantastic collection showcasing some of Junji Ito's best short stories. This anthology mixes classic horror with surreal, unsettling tales, offering a great variety of his signature creepy art and disturbing plots. The hardcover edition is beautifully crafted, with full-color pages and striking cover art, making it a must-have for Ito fans. While some stories are stronger than others, the collection as a whole is a great introduction to his work and a treat for longtime fans. If you love horror manga, this is a standout addition to your bookshelf.

This arrived early and in perfect condition. Another great collection by Junji Ito. Nice to have some colour in this volume. Just one word of warning it does contain a little repeated material from Gyo. But don't let that put you off. The rest of the stories do nor appear in any of the other volumes. And there is plenty of great reading.

Thought this was a full novel, but it was a compilation of short stories. All worth it and would buy again even if I knew this was a compilation of short stories. Loved every bit of the stories and probably buy everything that comes from Junji Ito
