Excellent Kitchen Timer
We've used this kitchen timer a few times now and are extremely pleased with our purchase. It was delivered in good shape, on time and seems to be of good quality. It came with batteries. We appreciate the fact that you can directly set your desired time through the number keys. The alarm is adjustable and the numbers are large and easy to read. We would recommend this timer to anyone looking for a quality and well-made kitchen timer. Thank you.

Great Timer
This is great. I can take it with me, while things are cooking. It is very easy to setup and is loud enough to be heard. I also like flashing light to catch your attention. It seems to be accurate compared to the stove timer.

Does its job, but the interface needs work
This review is for the YS316 model with individual 0-9 buttons. This timer does its job accurately. The large display is easy to read. The buttons are spaced well to avoid accidentally hitting more than one button at a time. It's great that it uses a pair of inexpensive AAA batteries instead of a button cell. It can count down accurately for up to 9 hours and 99 minutes. But the user interface could be improved. The alarm is very loud on its high setting if the back of the timer isn't obstructed. You can reduce the volume or shut off the audio alarm with a switch on the side. I like the red LED that flashes when the alarm goes off, even if the audio alarm is disabled. When I bought the timer I'd planned to wear it on a lanyard around my neck, but this proved impractical. The timer comes with a short loop of cord to allow you to suspend it from something like a hook or a lanyard, but unfortunately the buttons trigger with only a very light touch and there is no audio response when this happens. Therefore if the timer is not on a solid support it's susceptible to accidental button triggers. This happened to me repeatedly when I tried to wear it on a lanyard; eventually I gave up. I find it annoying that there is no beep or other feedback when I touch any of the buttons on the timer. Therefore I have to watch the display when setting, starting and stopping to be sure I've hit the right keys. The on/off button also could be improved: it stops the timer and blanks the display when you press it for three seconds, but then you have to press it for three seconds again to turn the display back on. I don't see why the extended hold should be needed to turn the device on again after being shut off. In summary, the timer does its job and it's easy to use if you understand its less-than-perfect interface. I use it daily (resting on a table) and will continue to do so.

LARGE NUMBERS/LOUND RINGER
I've purchased 4 of these timers for the kitchen because I like them so much. It has all the features I want: large numbers, loud ringer you can hear several rooms away (which you can modify), count up, count down. Another feature I like is that when the time counts down to zero, it beeps and continues to do so for one minute unless you shut it off. After one minute the beeping stops, but the timer continues counting up from zero so that when you do shut it off you can see how much time has elapsed since is went to zero. I find this feature very handy when experimenting with recipes. For example, If I think something is going to thicken in 5 minutes, I set the timer accordingly. But if at the 5 minute mark it HASN'T thickened, I let the timer continue until it does and then I can see how much time it actually took. Another feature I like is that if I set the timer for 5 minutes and I press Stop, it automatically resets itself to 5 minutes. If that's not what you want, just hit clear. The timer is an of/off button, but to be honest, the button has never worked for me. One more "feature" some of these timers appear to have is cycle mode -- not that the directions ever said that. If it gets into cycle mode, you won't get an arrow up or down symbol when the timer counts up or down, instead you'll see a cycle symbol. When this happens, if you set the timer for 20 minutes and you hit stop when the alarm goes off, it will AUTOMATICALLY reset itself to 20 minutes and begin counting down again -- ad nauseam until you clear it. Again, I didn't see this in any of the instructions and I don't even know how I got my timer into cycle mode, but the only way I could figure out how to go back to normal count down/count up mode was to remove and reinstall the batteries.

Timer functions are fine, but magnets, stand and on/off button are not good
As a timer it works fine. Very loud alarm. The base is angled so it's unstable on a table unless you flip out the stand, which you then have to close again to put it back on a wall with the magnets, which are a little annoying extra steps. The magnets don't hold very well because they are slightly recessed in the plastic and don't make direct contact with the metal surface, and the weight of the timer makes it slide down even the thick parts of my refrigerator's sides; I had to just put it in a drawer which means I'll rarely use it unless I attach better magnets. The on/off button is the worst part. I just let it sit to turn off automatically, but having to hold down the button for 3 seconds to turn the device on before being able to start a countdown is an annoying waste of time. Every other timer I've seen just turns on with any button press instantly, and is much more convenient and I don't care about the rare chance of accidentally turning it on. The lanyard seems kind of a pointless added cost as it's very small; not large enough to put on your wrist and just holding it on a finger would be only a very slight convenience compared to just carrying the timer and/or putting it down. Perhaps it could be put on a kitchen hook but again very rare.

the magnet doesn't work
This timer initially seemed excellent. You can type in an exact amount of time, you can adjust the loudness of the alarm, the buttons are easy to push, and it's easy to read. Unfortunately, if you want to hang it on your refrigerator (which I do), it will not work at all. The magnets on the back are so weak that it just falls right off the fridge or slides to the floor. If you just want to have a timer that stands on your counter, it will be a great, but don't count on using its magnetic feature.

Easy to set timer. A really 'quiet' timer.
17 Feb 2021. YS 316. Direct entry timer. I really like this timer. Straight forward display. Large digits. Two AAA batteries. I using Engizer Max alkaline. A 'quiet' timer. Does not beep when setting the time. :) None of the buttons make a tick tack or click clack sound. :) Stand folds out with the feel of locking but without the sound. When countdown timer has reached zero, it counts up with flashing red light. After a minute red light stops flashing but count up continues. Pressing the stop button, the set time is displayed, ready to be used again. Setting the countdown time, the digits flash, which is unusual when compared to other timers around me. Con - The weak point is the battery cover. :( Two small tabs, on one edge of cover, in to the two slots on the back of unit, but two -smaller- tabs, on the opposite edge, snap into two other slots. The -smaller- tabs do hold, but without a satisfying feel of 'locking' just a sound of a muffled click; unlike many other timers and alarm clocks that I have. It feels like battery cover might pop out if unit falls on the floor. :( James 'Jay' Hind.

Opt for number buttons to set the time
The feature that makes this timer stand out is the ability to set the time with number buttons. Much faster. Much less fiddly. Doesn't require three hands as some timers do. The digital display is large and easy to read. The louder of the two alarm options could benefit from being louder. I am using this timer to make myself remember to get up from my desk and move every twenty minutes as recommended by physios, occupational health therapists, etc. For this reason I keep the timer in another room and if I am playing music loudly to add joy to an otherwise dull task, the timer needs to compete. The number buttons more than compensate, however, and I merely keep the timer closer if I am playing music. This timer also has two easy-to-use settings for the stand.

Easy to read. operate and hear
The loud ring carries well. And I can see the mute with flashing light could be handy in some circumstances. Appears to be a good product in every respect. True, the magnets don't hold well enough on our fridge. But we have another magnet and use the lanyard to hang it from this magnet. The magnets in the timer hold it fixed and flat. There is no wobble. The kickstand is recessed into the back. Perfectly designed except for the weak magnets.

Love the product - the directions not so much
I love this timer - it is very easy to set and change and read. The only unfortunate aspect is that the last few lines of the directions are fairly incoherent, so there are things it can do apparently that I don't have access to. If the company would like, I'd happily rewrite that part if they would just explain what they wanted them to say. Other than that, the timer meets all my expectations and is exactly what I want. I use it to time all kinds of tasks around the house, from 2 minutes to hours. Typically I can tackle boring chores by setting the timer to say, ten minutes, and then work steadily on that until the timer goes off. I usually manage to finish fairly close to my estimated time; but the value for me is that I am putting a strict limit on the time commitment, so it doesn't feel like it's an open ended abyss, but just a short, snappy bit of knocking something off my list. Perfect design.

Well thought out device.
It's not often that you find a simple device like this that has been thought through very well. Its easy to use, pressing numbers is much easier than scrolling up and down to get the right time. If you enter a time then its a count down timer otherwise it counts up from zero. There is a button on the side for the volume. Either muted, medium or high. You can switch off the display to save battery.

Solid product
I've owned this product for two years now. It's still working well. It does exactly what it advertises.
