LudwigLAPAM1 Atlas Single Mount Bracket Drum Set Mounting Hardware, Silver,Black

When I did a restoration project on an older Ludwig drum set I decided to get rid of the tom mount from the bass drum. I went with the Atlas Single Mount Bracket that attaches to the tom shell replacing one of the lug brackets and clamps onto a cymbal stand. I have the same setup with 3 other Ludwig drum sets and really like it, Very simple and quick to attach to the tom shell, then just simply attach the clamp to a cymbal stand that will allow you to place the tom exactly where you want it. Once the clamp is securely tightened where you want it it is just a matter of placing the tom on the l-rod that comes with the mounting bracket, adjust the position and angle of the tom and tighten it down. There is an unlimited amount of flexibility to the bracket because of the ball and socket style of the clamp, and I have never had any problem with any of them slipping or moving once they are tightened down. I would highly recommend these to any drummer that wants to eliminate the bass drum shell tom mounts. They are excellent!

Extremely clever design and rock solid stability are the hallmarks of this product. I replaced one lug on my 1965 vintage Ludwig 9/13 tom with this mount and used the new Ludwig Arch Rail Mount to attach the drum to the kick drum. Great system, with a wide range of adjustability. The lug bolt works smoothly and securely with the receptacle on this mount. Highly recommended for mounting a drum without having to do any drilling.

I'm trying to adapt this good idea to an old Ludwig drumset (1965 purchase). It is adaptable, but the plastic pieces provided to make mount sizes adapt to each other need to be easier to get or improved upon. Also, there is no standard size of mount hole and rod between the older bassdrum mount rods and the new part. So I'm in an ongoing quest (and somewhat expensive quest) to solve my problem. The new double mount, one inch rod I bought does the trick but it sure adds weight and bulk to my kit. I guess this is not a problem for a younger person, but... Anyway, I understand a solution would be to buy a modern kit, however, mine is fine, works well, and I wish to continue to use it. I'd like to find a reasonable solution to this, so I will continue to deal with it.

I had high hopes for this item as I have seen many positive reviews but should have paid a little more attention to the negative ones. First off, it looks like a well built (but heavy) mount and it LOOKS like an engineering marvel until you get it hooked up and UGHHHHH! My Tama Superstar custom maple 12" tom sounded dead as a doornail. I tried loosening up the mounting bolts as they suggest not to overtighten them but no change. I put back on the original Tama tom suspension and all the resonance and sustain was back. There simply just isn't a better way to mount a tom then the RIMS style mounts in my opinion. Especially if you like a nice wide open tone to your toms. Sorry Ludwig, better luck next time!

wow . all I can say is wow. the 'suspension ' mounts on my 12 inch catalina club tom sucked. choked the drum badly. it sings like a canary now.can't emphasize enough what a worthwhile purchase this was.

Great price.....and it came with gaskets, a memory lock and 2 shims so it will fit 9.5mm, 10.5mm or 12.7mm "L" rods.

This is just what I needed. Better than the tom racks that came with my set👍
