Mechanical 24-Hour

I wanted to replace a Digital in-Wall Timer I have had for many years. It was such a pain to reset yearly due to time changes and power outages. This Manual Timer and it's low-cost look like the way to go. I have a 2-gang wall box to control the outside porch lights where the present timer is located and a rocker switch to control the overhead fan light in the front room. Not hard to hook up this Manual Switch but because of all the wiring in the box with Wire Caps Twist Nuts Connectors in the electric box (3 switching, plus Nest Doorbell camera wire too) there was no way this unit would fit. I purchased an Electrical Box Extender 2 Gang BE-BE2 Extends Electrical Box up to 1 1/2" Flush to Wall (1 Pack) from Amazon. I also upgraded the rocker switch to a lighted one. If you remove the timer dial reinstall loose and don't over tighten so the dial will move for the time reading. I did not install a cover plate yet but may install a modified one for the Timer Dial for clearance.

This product was installed by a professional electrician. It was set up correctly, but failed to turn the lights on after the timer tabs were set and it was put in the timer setting. The on and off switches worked, but the timer switch did not function to turn the lights on and off. When the timer dial was was rotated manually, the lights would come on and turn off in the timer setting. But, when the current/correct time was set and the selector switch was placed in the timer mode, the lights would not come on at the selected time. This product was a complete waste of money and it will be returned.

Worked as needed. Easy to install. Used it to replace an old fan timer.

Good product. Very easy to set the on / off times compared to the alternative digital timer. What I didn't like is that the rotating dial rubs against the wall cover plate and can stop the operation. I had to trace out the dial on the wall plate and take a dremel drum sander to cut out the curvature so it would have a smooth operation on rotation. Works good now. Easy to set as the daylight changes....

The best inline non digital timer, period. Easy to install. Easy to use. Only thing that using great is the bolt to hold the timer will in place its cheap plastic, so is the nut & wheel holder housing. I had to remove to install a cover plate, & snapped the housing collar putting back on. Tried to glue it & ended up not being able to because of how thin everything is. It snapped again. 2nd timer was needed. Didn't break this one putting it all together. Not sure it wasn't the first one was just an issue, or was slightly over tightened & it was too fragile. 2nd went in & tightened right up. No issues. Still 5 stars, be careful putting a cover on.

Follow the wiring instruction's video in the description. Buy the switch plate from the dollar store, it cost .99 cents as it has the correct thickness. This is the key to fix the dial. Do not tighten the plastic screw in the middle of the dial too much, as it will touch the switch plate and resulting in the dial not turning. I use my fingers to tighten the plastic screw. I did not use a screw driver. That will give you the correct tightness. Now I will have to see how long it will last.

After reading all the positive reviews I was quite disappointed to find that 2 out of the 3 I ordered does not work right out of the box. I hooked up the timer as instructed, and the dial stops turning once it hits the switch to turn the power on. Then it just sits there forever. 1 works fine, 2 does not. It is also worth noting that using a standard wall plate which may hang a fraction of a mm above the surface of the timer switch will also stop the dial from turning, the single switch that worked, I had to grind out part of the plate to avoid any interference. I guess the 2 goes where they belong, the garbage can and I ordered 2 digital switches instead.

This timer is junk. Finally got around to installing this timer. Unfortunately past the return time. Installed and tested. Worked for about 10 minutes and then stopped working. Have tried and tried different things to test it but it is just dead. Guess you get what you pay for.

This is one of two cheap mechanical wall switch timers on Amazon which I tried after despairing of programming electronic ones. Neither worked, so I reinstalled the original elementary light switch which I turn on and off myself.

Bact to basic, some newner digital timer are very hard to set up and after it might not working properly. So I go back to the mechanical and it works perfect but it needs slightly modification cut round on both sides of the face plate.
