If Windows 10 isn't picking up the Fingerprint reader's drivers right away. Go to your Device Manager, locate the "ELAN Fingerprint Sensor" device, right-click and click Update Drivers. Click on "Search automatically for drivers", if none is found, then click on "Search for updated drivers in Windows Update" (wait 2-5 minutes). If still nothing, perform a restart via the start menu (not shutdown), and try the above again, if Windows 10 is still isn't picking up the drivers. Driver version: ELAN Finger Print 3.10.12001.10102 Can confirm working on Windows 10 version 21H2.

Yes, you can lock/encrypt/decrypt individual files but you need to download & instal the Smart-ID software from the website before you can do this.

It doesn't need a driver per se, it will run on a Windows 10 PC that has Windows Hello installed. If there are issues with Windows Hello, go to Start - Settings - Accounts - Sign in Options where it is located.

My recollection is that I plugged it in and Windows figured out the driver itself. It's been a while. I am running Windows 11. At the time I got the device, I was running Windows 10. It seems to work better under Windows 11. I would not be surprised if there were driver problems with versions of Windows before Windows 10. You do not mention what version you are running. If you are running something earlier than Windows 10, I would suggest upgrading. Things have come a long way since the days of Windows 7.
