Super-convenient for both camping and home
I've been purchasing freeze-dried hash-browns like this for more than a decade, and I love them. You can store them FOREVER, and they're reasonably quick to make up. They don't take up a lot of room, and don't consume freezer-space. You just pour on some hot water, close it back up and wait a bit.I can't say much for the taste or the texture, though. I think both of those are more dependent on how you cook and prepare them. At the very least, with some heat and oil you can get them down to a nice crispy texture, although most of the time I make them they end up being still pretty moist -- maybe even soggy. I tend to keep them loose, and they don't seem to form mats, like some potato shreds. They benefit greatly from the flavor that your oil and seasonings bring to them. But, I can't think of any way to make these more convenient!

Overpriced
Product is OK, and the carton makes a convient rehydration vessel, but it's overpriced for what you get.

If you can't get fresh, these are really great!
I love the ease of preparation. They come in little "milk carton" containers. You fill them with HOT water and let them sit about an hour. I have learned, it is best to wrap/cover the hasbrowns with a clean cotton cloth to soak up the excess water, which by the way, is very little to none, with this brand. Having them in the cloth, also keeps them from getting watery, which some of the other brands do in a baggie. I get about 3 - 4 servings, although it says 5. Cooked in a little oil they are very good.

Great Potatoes try adding Onions
I really like these potatoes and serve them often. I soak them and then use half one day and then cook the other half another day as there are two of us. I often chop up onions and fry for awhile prior to adding the potatoes which makes a tasty dish.

Tasted great
I used these hash browns on the outside griddle. Worked better. Browned up better than fresh grated potatoes

Good taters
What I wanted, that why I bought them. They are very good. When you need just a little bit it works.
