Good for my small library of books on Eclectus parrots
Interesting book. Not so much focus on Eclectus parrots as companion pets, but lots of interesting research. Good information on diet, health and housing.

It’s okay
It was a lot of breeding information and the ramblings of grahams experience. I wished it was more about taking care of the Eclectus not for breeding purposes, i wish it included meal recipes and more details about enrichment. I feel like it went over those things briefly but not in depth. I did not really help me but it did solidify what I already know.

Interesting Story Telling
As the title says... there's a lot of interesting story telling, but not much information relating to ethology and care of the Eclectus parrot. I'm not sure if that's because the author is trying to convey behavior properties through story telling, or just because they aren't connecting the dots for us 'non-scientists'. The book mainly tells of the authors travels to visit these birds in the wild, with a little history on the original parrot trade some 40yrs ago. Don't get me wrong, it's interesting (and somewhat sad), but overall I didn't walk away from this book knowing much more than when I started.

Mostly for Breedets
This book is awesome for breeders ad for learning about the different species of electus parrots.

Not at all as described
Does not have a single picture to help ID subspecies (even though the introduction specifically notes the importance of photos). Most other information is specific to Australia where these birds are readily available, are housed outside, and their food is easily foraged. This is a better adventure story about early collecting than it is a reference to keeping eclectus.
