Tribal Stripes Cat Collar Cover, Bird Warning Safety Design

Loved this while I had it... My cat managed to ditch it & his quick release collar somewhere in a blackberry bush in under 2 weeks LOL. So I guess my one complaint could be how easily the fabric catches on brush/bramble causing it to be lost... I'm sure in a suburban area you'd never have that issue. We live on acreage. But while he did have it on he didn't catch any birds so it did work as advertised. Will probably get another one soon.

My nine-year old cat is an avid hunter. She was bringing in a kill, or live bird almost every day. I originally purchased the giant bell for her collar from this company and it worked for four days. This collar has worked now for three weeks. No birds, lizards, or rats (dead or alive) in my house for THREE WEEKS!!! Whereas I used to tentatively walk into my kitchen every morning, steeling myself for some level of carnage requiring a cleanup crew, I can now start my mornings on a joyful note. I highly recommend this product. If you have a bell on your cat's collar that you want to keep, I recommend putting a small stitch on each end of the openings to keep the bell from sliding into the fabric tube. The tube is rather wide and presents some issues, but they're not insurmountable - and applying a couple of small stitches helps a lot.

My cat loves sitting outside watching the birds. He would occassionally chase one - but he never killed a bird or brought one inside. Truthfully, it was a bit comical watching him lumber around after the birds. But I felt bad for the birds, so I bought this collar to help the birds visualize him better. I was not prepared for what happened next. The first day with the collar, the cat caught and brought 7 birds into the house. He did not kill any of them, he gently brought them in and placed them at my feet. The second day he delivered 11 birds. The collar is well made and looks quite cute - but it in no way deterred my cat from catching birds - it actually empowered him!

Update- a few years on, nothing has changed. My male cat became a capable hunter after one year of going outdoors during daylight hours. Since wearing this for 8 months, he has not caught one bird (though he did bring in a small rat once), and seems discouraged from trying birds anymore. He adjusted quickly to wearing it, and though he has a thick mane, the birds seem to be spotting him. I bought three to cover losses, for washing, or in the event that his litter mate takes up hunting, but so far, she lacks the skill. An important step in addition to proper vaccines, flea/tick/parasite meds, and evaluating your neighborhood for traffic and wildlife to allow for a successful outdoor cat experience. Further update: not the fault of the product, but there has been “ ring around the collar” in the part just below his mouth. I suggest cleaning with a mixture of castille soap, lemon juice and hydrogen peroxide ( google the formula) as highly scented spot removers may not be acceptable for the cat due to their heavy smell.

I ordered this collar as a base. The collar by itself was not enough to keep my cat from killing birds in my garden. I sewed multiple tiny bells onto it and that has helped immensely. The jester collar is distinctive and has made our ginger cat stand out even more on the street. He's the king of the block and no more dead birds on our porch!

Beautiful collar with nice reflection tape around the side. Unfortunately it did not work for our cat. She has murdered three birds with it on, even paired with a bell! Maybe it works on other cats but it seems my cat is too talented of a hunter for this product. 3 stars because it’s pretty and probably works a percentage of the time, but not fully bird-proof for a killer.

Took a little getting used to by us and the cat, but this collar seemed to immediately help our bird population recover from the adoption of a very skilled one-eyed feral kitten. The collar cover is cute, highly reflective at night, and generally helps us keep track of the cat. She is killing far fewer birds and seems to still take out bugs, rodents and lizards. This type of anti-bird-kill collar cover with a quick-release collar should be a requirement for all TNR cats to wear.

I am shocked. Our two cats were bringing in 2+ birds a day. I didn’t expect this collar to work, but I thought “I’ll try anything.” In 3 weeks, our little rainbow clowns have not caught a single bird. We even watched it happen. One cat was slithering in the grass toward a robin. The robin flew away before she could even get close. There were initial issues with us not having the collar tight enough and one cat would get her front leg consistently stuck in the collar. But now that we both have figured it out, it is worth every penny (as long as they don’t lose them 😅)

This collar cover works! I’m saving lives here! My cat is fine wearing it too! Make sure you get a good collar with a bell too.

Hi - i seldom if ever write reviews, but i am very pleased with results for this collar sleeve combined with clip together collar. If you are thinking to try something to save the birds, i think this is worth the risk. Based in lower South Island, NZ, one of our cats was killing 2-5 birds a day. It is a seasonal thing of course, depending on bird species, feed type, temp, etc. Since the collar - we put it on in the morning, take off in evening - there have been 2 kills total over approx 3 weeks. Super pleased. We are lucky cat is pretty relaxed about collar, no craziness. Absolutely worth the money in this instance.
