Mollard 14 inch S Series Baton with White Carbon Fibre Shaft and Pear Shaped Handle - Purpleheart

I hadn't previously heard of Mollard batons, and I thought the handmade wooden batons @ £10 a throw from London I've used since the 80's were unbeatable until recently the maker changed and they became less durable, and so I lost confidence in its reliability. I wondered whether something high-tech might be available, and searching the net found this model, which like my previous one weighs a mere 10g. I was somewhat sceptical to read that it would glide through the air better, but amazingly it does, and it makes conducting in a smooth style much easier, so my initial hesitation given the cost difference was able to be swept aside on just this ground. I was initially slightly concerned about the ridge where the handle joins to the stick (at the change of colour point) as my previous one was smooth but I have soon become used to it so it's not noticeable in use. I cannot review durability right now, but given the relative strength of wood and carbon fibre I doubt this will be an issue.
