Increases decomposition and helps remove sludge, muck, silt, fish waste, and decaying organic buildup Reduces odors in lake & pond water and helps restore healthy oxygen levels Non-pathogenic and non-toxic, safe for humans, wildlife, and livestock Each packet will treat up to 1/2 acre-ft. (8,000 gallons) Macro-Zyme Pond Bacteria is the eco-friendly approach to reducing and reversing seasonal buildup of sludge in ponds and the associated nutrient levels and foul pond odors. With over 3 billion CFU's per gram, once added, the bacteria quickly go to work consuming organic material such as grass clippings, animal waste, fertilizer and chemical waste, dead plant material, and other pond-bottom accumulations. If this organic material is left untreated, it will begin to fill in your pond and can create poor living conditions for fish and other pond inhabitants. It can also cause excessive aquatic plant growth. By adding Macro-Zyme every 3 weeks when water temperatures are above 55deg F (and with pH levels 5.5-8.5) you can experience a rapid reduction in foul pond odor and the decrease in nutrient-rich, organic material at the bottom of your pond. Macro-Zyme is a facultative anaerobic bacteria, so it works with or without oxygen. However, it is up to 5 times faster if adequate oxygen is present, so it is perfect with any Kasco aeration or fountain equipment Treatment Capacity (gal.): 162,825, Working Temperature: 55-110 F, Environmentally Friendly.

Great for your pond.
Use this stuff monthly on my 1/2 acre pond. Makes a noticeable difference. Especially during season change when the pond starts to turn. Helps keep it clear and clean.

This product works!
I have used this product for years and it is the best solution to get rid of and maintain my pond algae free.

Not happy with age of product.
The layer of packaging came dry rotted. Couldn't just toss in pond. Fell apart.

Really seems to have improved pond's health
We bought a home with over 3/4 acre pond that had massive algae problems summer we moved in...thick brown slimy mats of algae covering majority of pond that seemed to keep bubbling up from the bottom. Prior owners told us they used copper sulfate for 5 years...seems to have sunk the algae and added to the already deep muck bottom. This season we started using Kasco macro-zyme pouches as soon as the water temp got over 50 degrees...2 pouches every 2 weeks throughout the entire summer into late fall. Early summer we used some Cutrine Plus Granular to combat filamentous algae but have been only using bacteria and aeration (surface fountains) for majority of summer. It really seemed like our pond drastically improved this season. The algae issue was massively less than last summer and I think we're chipping away at the muck bottom since I'm able to walk the bottom in waders easier than I could last summer. Since the price isn't as high as some beneficial bacteria, I plan to pick up in the spring as soon as it's 50 degrees and try another season using this along with aeration to keep enough oxygen for the fish while the bacteria is multiplying and working away. Given the amount of copper sulfate previously dumped in here, I didn't expect instant results as we try to change the pond's health, but there's a ton of fish, frogs, ducks, cranes, herons, etc and the clarity is improving and algae lessening, so I think we're doing something right without the need for excessive algaecides. I'm hoping to avoid Cutrine next season and work with bacteria and aeration alone....we'll see how it goes. Can't use dyes effectively since it's spring-fed and drains out dye in less than a week, so dye is really just ornamental before company visits.price a bit high on amazon, available cheaper from west marine, but overall I like the product. I cannot speak to how well this compares with other bacteria formulas since have not tried others.
