Grizzly G1870 Wood Threading, 1-Inch Die

The tool worked well. I had problems with it losing the screws holding it together, but once I learned to watch the issue and occasionally tighten the screws the problem was solved. I would purchase from Grizzly again. I am planning on getting this die in different sizes.

Came as expected but be sure to get the right size or it will not work. Need skill to use, and the blade is very sharp. Learned that last part the hard way.

Will be returning this. Absolutely useless without the tap. The tap is unavailable on amazon, you have to set up and account on the grizzly website to order one. After all that hassle it's cheaper and quicker to simply order an actual set from another supplier.

actually the same item with the one sold by woodcraft. made in Taiwan. it's good for occasional wood threading jobs. seasoning the wood with preferably linseed oil and strech wrap for a night to absorb the oil and then using more linseed oil to lubricate the wood while tapping will result better threads.

I wish I could buy the other sizes, but they're sold out. The V-cutter will eventually break as it's not the best steel, but for the price, who cares. According to Roubo the pitch is too high (TPI). But for the price, who cares. I've probably threaded over 30' of maple, walnut, and cherry by now.

I purchased this to re-furbish broom handles into smaller lengths for other uses, did almost 100 pieces and it worked as good on the last as it did on the first.
