The Paint Thickness Gauge TC100 has been a helpful tool for checking the condition of car paint, especially when buying used vehicles. It’s easy to use and provides quick, accurate readings of the paint thickness, which gives me more confidence in evaluating a car’s original coating. The device is lightweight, and the display is clear, making it straightforward to read. Works perfectly for my needs -- may or may not be as accurate as more expensive gauges
I am a professional vehicle inspector. Even without this tool I can tell when a car has been resprayed, and I can always find bondo, but that's not always easy to convey to a customer that's not there with me. I use this tool and take photos of the result to show where there might be bondo or an extra layer of paint. I'm not a concours judge but my inspections range from 63 Jags to 2015 Subarus and this has been a great tool to show customers what I mean. It may or may not be as accurate as the more expensive gauges but it works perfectly for my needs.

The other guy was wrong.
The media could not be loaded. O.C. Detailing posted a review saying this paint meter doesn't work on red cars, which doesn't even sound right. The dude posted a video review where he tested it on a Corvette....a fiberglass car. If you're going to review a product, learn how to operate it 1st. I've used many paint meters over the last 9 years & NONE will ever work on plastic (like bumper covers) or on fiberglass vehicles like Corvettes.I tested this on my RED Jeep and it works just like it should. The price was great considering my husband just bought one for $400 & it does the same thing. Hopefully this thing lasts a while because I'll be using it every day!

Gets a decent reading for a great price
I am not sure the reading is the most accurate but I purchased this for training purposes and it does the job well. I run a small powder coating business and I use it to help my guys refine their techniques. It may not give super accurate readings but it will definitely give you a good idea of how thick your coat is. If you're looking for something to serve a similar purpose, I would recommend this product.

This tool is a keeper!
Works like I expected it to. Easy to calibrate; appears accurate. It gave me the confidence to tackle a full auto body paint correction on a 65 chevy truck that has been in my family since day 1. I put a lot of faith in this product and it did NOT let me down.

Paint me up Scotty!
This unit seems to work well but it seems to take more skill to master than I thought it would. There are nuances in automotive paint, so you should practice on a factory car in mint condition before using it to unearth used cars with issues. Wish they had these decades ago.

Best price and quality combo for a must need polishing accessory
This product provides the best cross section between quality and price for a tool you will find you very rarely need but that one time you do need it then it will have paid for itself with you not damaging paintwork on a customers vehicle!!! I was surprised by how accurate this was. Showed me I had way more paint then I thought I had to work with on my personal vehicles and also shows me that I really don't have to remove much during the polishing process to see a fairly significant difference in the appearance of the finish. In fact I often see drastic improvements with little to zero movement in the thickness of the coating but this is by design as I use the least aggressive approach to get the desired results as one should always do. Some paints just require you to remove more and when you come across those types of finishes this type of tool becomes a very handy thing to have!!! Without this you flying blind and guessing and that can be wildly inaccurate.
