My AE2 Bose cable has 3 black rings on the male ends, this one only two, does that matter?

Three black rings mean that it is able to pass a microphone input along as well as the regular sound. This cable only has 2, so all it is capable of doing is passing the regular sound. So as long as you intend not to do any voice recording through this cable, it will work great.

I suspect this will work with the bose soundtrue over-ear headphones, but i thought i'd ask. anyone using this cord for those headphones?

I am using it with the Bose QC35 headphones. Works perfectly.

Better than the OG Bose cord

Works amazing. It’s a perfect cord for my Bose headphones. It’s long, and it’s not too thin that you’re worried it’ll break easily. The end cable tilted is a nice feature. Better than the one it came with.

Great quality cable that seems to be tangle resistant

This is a very good quality cable for the price. It works perfectly as a replacement for the original cable supplied with my aging, but still functional, Nokia BH-905 headphones. I find the flexibility of the cable to be optimized to prevent tangling, which makes it easy to roll it up for storage..

So good, I bought it twice.

I bought these for my Bose QCII. They have the tiny headphone jack on the left and needed them for the Switch before they added Bluetooth Audio, and when working at home on the computer.So I bought two of these. Not because they were bad and it wore out, but because I was a silly goose and broke the headphone jack while it was plugged in.Audio is good and clear and never had any issues with it. I like the little cable tie that comes with it. I appreciate the slight curve of the headphone jack.If I happen to break it again, I'll be back 😎

Absolutely wonderful!

I purchased this cord for my headphones back in February after my JBL cord stopped working, and I will say it is definitely worth the price. The length is long (a bit inconvenient for me, but really nice in some situations) and nice and strong! At this point (July) I do have to replace it as it's stopped properly working but needless to say, 5 months of use for $5 isn't bad at all.

Works well

Airline broke my cable and I did not want to buy a Bose cable overseas for $25. Replacement cable works just fine.

Fit my QC45 better than the original Bose cable

The QC45 headphone jack is slightly recessed so the Bose cable didn't fully seat and was intermittent. This cable's plug has a narrow shoulder that permits it to seat completely - with a pronounced click. Problem solved.
