Because Some Classic Keyboards Deserve to Live On
I have an old mechanical keyboard that I refuse to give up. The problem is that it speaks PS/2, and my current machine speaks only USB. Enter this cable, which turns a polite but firm incompatibility into a non-issue. The converter handles both the keyboard and mouse PS/2 ports simultaneously via a single USB connection on the host side. The color coding on the PS/2 ends follows the standard convention (purple for keyboard, green for mouse), so there is no guessing. It is an active conversion with a built-in IC chip, which matters because passive adapters frequently fail with keyboards that require actual PS/2 signaling rather than a simple passive wiring remap. Plug it in, and it just works. No driver installation, no configuration, no reboot ritual. Compatible with Windows, Linux, and also plays nicely with the PS/2 ports on KVM switches, which is a less common use case but a genuinely useful one. The only quirk worth mentioning is that occasionally and very rarely a keypress may seem to hang, but in practice this is uncommon enough that it has never been a real issue. If you are trying to breathe new life into a beloved old peripheral or need PS/2 support for a KVM setup, this cable delivers exactly what it promises at a price that is basically a rounding error.

Plug and play. Works well.
This adapter allowed me to use my old keyboard and mouse with my new computer. Works well and only one USB port needed for both devices.

Decent converter for a good price.
I'll start with the important part: this is an active converter as advertised, and it's worked for every keyboard I've thrown at it - IBM Model M's, Focus FK-2001 and FK-2000 Plus, countless old dome with slider keyboards, everything. It isn't perfect. Once in a while (very rarely), a key seems to get stuck. This is rare enough and the keyboards I've been using this for are old enough that I honestly can't blame this converter any more than I can blame the membrane/PCB or controller on the keyboard. It's a very minor annoyance that I honestly didn't run into enough to make me mad. Now, something you need to know before ordering this: you might not get a product with packaging branded UCEC. When I first received my order, the one I received didn't work (my computer wouldn't recognize it and it heated up quite hot), and when I looked at the packaging, it was labeled J-SEK rather than UCEC. I ended up contacting the seller, who told me that it was indeed the UCEC product, just rebranded to J-SEK. Now, I honestly wasn't completely convinced by this, but they sent me a replacement (with the exact same J-SEK packaging) that I've been using for 3 months. Is it possible that it isn't really the same product as the UCEC converter advertised? Yes, but this is such a generic product that even if that's the case, this product is still a decent PS/2 to USB active converter that does the job, and that's what matters.

Works great, with two caveats.
I have a 1980s-era IMB mechanical key keyboard with a PS/2 plug. This little adapter seems to be working fine, without any missed keypresses or unwanted keypress repeats. Two remarks, though: 1) The USB plug is fatter than I'm used to seeing, and so may not fit next to other (normal width, perfectly flat) USB plugs. You will have to find an unused USB port with nothing next to it. If you don't have one, then order a short generic USB extension cable at the same time you order this adapter and you'll be able to plug it into any available USB port. 2) The PS/2 sockets are a very tight fit. Be patient, look closely, align the cable's keytab with the socket's keytab hole EXACTLY, and push hard. The plug will suddenly snap into the socket. It's a good, secure mate. 5 stars, highly recommended as long as you prepare for the above two oddities.

USB Adapter for PS2 Keyboard and Mouse
This product works as advertised. I inherited an older keyboard and mouse. I used the converter to interface to my Raspberry Pi SBC. Worked great and freed up a USB port.

Great product to convert your PS2 connections to USB
This item worked perfectly on a Dell Rackmount Keyboard/Mouse combo that had PS2 connections. Sometimes these adapters don't work but this one worked great.

Does not work with my setup
I bought this to use with an old (but high quality) KVM switch that has no USB ports, only PS/2. I have a new computer with no PS/2 ports, only USB. So I needed something to connect the KVM's PS/2 output to the new computer's USB input. This isn't it. It handles keyboard input just fine, but goes crazy with the mouse. The product description says that it works with KMV switches, but it doesn't work with mine. For people with a setup similar to men, I've tried 4 different converters and the only thing I've found that works is the Perixx PERIPRO-401.
