I have enjoyed this much as much as Mr
I have enjoyed this much as much as Mr. Penson's Heathkit radio book from 2003. Though, the reviews of various equipment is not in depth, it is however cataloged. There were pieces that I didn't even know about. The pics were very good and descriptions very adequate for general use. My one complaint is on my copy the pages did not bind well to the outer binder in places and it probably wont take much to have some pages pull loose later. I may try to squeeze a little Elmers glue between the outer cover and back side of the pages. I'll just be careful with copy and it should be fine for some time.I understand the earlier Heathkit Radio manual that Mr Penson wrote in 2003 is selling for over $500 on epay and Amazon. WOW!I'll keep mine and let my family sell it some day and buy a car with the proceeds. LOL. ,

Classic Heathkit test equipment remembered
This is a very good overview of the Heathkit test gear by the same author of the Heathkit ham gear book. In fact, when I ordered the book, it shipped from Chuck WA7ZZE himself! I think he now prints them on demand. The book is organized into categories of test equipment like VTVMs, TV equipment, RF generators, etc. This makes it easy to find what you're looking for. You can also simply read the book front to back and enjoy reliving the days when you could build quality test equipment from kits. I think anyone into vintage audio of radio gear will enjoy this book.

Great resource!
Great book. It was a gift for my father who built and worked with much of the equipment in the book in his early days as an electronics instructor in Minneapolis in the '60d. I am waiting for the revision of the Heathkit radio line book. Both are must haves for those who lived through the days of the green equipment lineups!

The authoritive guide to Heathkit test equipment
Following his well received and well reviewed (and constantly referred to by me as I collect Heathkit equipment) Heathkit Amateur Radio Equipment Guide this comprehensive book provides specifications, dates, and pictures of vintage Heathkit test equipment from the earliest oscilloscopes to the last equipment Heathkit produced. As someone who uses Heathkit test equipment practically every day as I repair and restore vintage Amateur Radio equipment this publication is a very useful reference for the complete line of Heathkit test equipment!

A much-needed book!
This volume has been a long time coming, and it was well worth the wait. Chocked full of information which would take the average reader from one end of the internet to the other to find-if it exists at all. Typical of Chuck's earlier volume, it is well-laid-out, and easily searched. The only negative is that it reminds us of the tremendous loss of Heathkit, and the incredible breadth of their product offerings. Thanks for your efforts, Chuck!

Another great bit of Heathkit history by the master!
Yet another Fine book here by "industrial archeologist" Chuck Penson, author of the Heathkit Amateur Radio Equipment book. Well illustrated, every single piece of radio/Tv/audio test gear shown, with specs, prices, model changes, etc.Every meter, every sig gen, every scope (except the 4 channel audio scope!) Also a brief chapter with full schemos on the 2 early tube type analog computers! Chuck has also consulted other serious Heath test gear collectors for some good technical info. No automotive test gear is included.Should be cheek-by-jowl with your Heathkit catalogs and his other Ham Radio book. Keep it handy when you go hamfesting, swapmeeting, flea market/garage sale/junk hunting.Well worth the very reasonabe price. I cant imagine the work it mustve taken-thanks, Chuck!(PS, Chuck:howzabouta Heath hi-fi book next???)Mike ZuccaroAG6MQSan Diego, CA

Another healthy heaping of Heathkit know-how!
Chuck Penson is the Heathkit guru, as well as quite a military technology historian. He's currently the staff historian at the Titan II Missile Museum in Sahuarita, Arizona and author of "The Titan II Handbook: A Civilian's Guide to the Most Powerful ICBM America Ever Built". But I digress. This book is almost as good as his previous one on the now-defunct electronic kit king "Heathkit - A Guide to the Amateur Radio Products" (now out of print and very expensive) so that tells you something about his vast knowledge in this narrow market. If you want the definitive Heathkit books, get both of them no matter what the cost!

Chuck Penson has written the ultimate reference book for Heathkit TEST EQUIPMENT. Great photos and stats. A must for all Heathkit collectors. Just the Introduction is worth the price, and the rest is free! He also has books on Heathkit HiFi and ham gear.
