Works well!
Pretty amazing stuff. We have 6 gallons of blueberry wine that just wouldn't get going (SG 1.090.) We even used 2 packs of Lalvin 1118 and still almost nothing was happening. After about 9 days, we added 1 teaspoon per gallon of this yeast nutrient and it was bubbling in the airlock within a few hours. 24 hours later and its going crazy! Also had a 1 gallon batch of blackberry that was just slowly chugging along...a bubble or two in the airlock every few minutes. Was hanging out at ~1.020 for about 2 weeks. Added 1/2 tsp to that one and fermentation seems to have kicked back into gear.Seems to be exactly what our wine needed.

Seems to work great, far as I can tell; easy to use
I'm using this in a batch of traditional (i.e., unflavored) mead, intended to turn out strong and dry, with EC-1118 pitched into four pounds of honey and enough water to make about a gallon. Pitched in early afternoon, including one teaspoon of Fermax. Didn't see much activity as of mid-evening, but as of the following morning, and for a few days since, it's been bubbling merrily along, and smelling nice and yeasty. Now, that's not *necessarily* due to these nutrients, but apparently a honey-heavy mix like that (actually its specific gravity *measured* even much higher than expected) can stress out the yeast and lead to low productivity (which is not at all what I'm seeing), *in the absence of nutrients*. So, I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt. :-)As for ease of use, the package seems great for those who brew in enough volume to use it quickly, but that's not me. A resealable bag would be an improvement -- I've now got it inside a quart Ziploc-type baggie.

Yeast Nutrient
The yeast nutrient helps fermentation in all wine batches. It gives the natural sugars that boost to start the fermentation and helps from having a stalled fermentation.

Fermax Yeast Nutrient_1/4 - 1/2 tsp in a 5-6 gallon batch of homebrew beer.
This is mainly manufactured to use in wine but I found a few posts that say to use a little of this, like 1/4-1/2 tsp in a 5 gallon batch of home brew beer. I tried 1/2 tsp in a 6 gallon batch and it started to work immediately. The yeast loves it and the beer is progressing nicely. One thing I read is that using this yeast nutrient also has other benefits. It helps the yeast to finish the fermentation process faster and also helps to clear the beer sooner. I brewed Coopers Mexican Cerveza 3 days ago and it is beautiful.
