(.5) So the for it to fit a case it has to be inside that dimension. I have a Kindle Fire 10 and could not hold my tablet but works great without it. Easy Solution! *by M***C on February 15, 2017* PROS: Very easy to install, reach is great, holds tablet securely. CONS: Articulation is too tight (see below), not made for easy removal of tablet. I needed a wall mounted tablet arm for the garage. This one does the business. As with most things though, there are some caveats. The cradle that holds the tablet (in my case a cheap Android-based Insignia) is plastic and secures your tablet very well. Too well if you want to remove it from the cradle when not using the mount. Not an issue with me as my tablet stays put. The main issue is the articulating arms are very tight. But there is a fix. You'll need the following tools: -10mm socket -8mm socket -5mm Allen wrench -4mm Allen wrench -Ratchet (Do the following before installing the mount on your wall) Remove the small plastic caps that cover the hinges. Recessed into the hinges are the Allen head bolt on one side and a nut on the other. Loosen them just enough to still maintain tension. Replace caps. Done! Easy! When fully retracted the tablet is 1.5" from the wall.
