Achla Designs C-21C Plated Flower Box, Window Flowerbox Planter, Large, Copper

I ordered three of these in small with the copper finish along with the Achla 20" "copper plated" trays that work with them for three of my windows. I removed the "made in India" stickers from the bottoms with paint thinner... which is when I was able to determine the "copper plating" for both these planters and the corresponding 20" trays is really just metallic paint. The metallic paint rubbed right off along with the adhesive for the sticker. Even with the false advertising (plating involves an electrical process that is entirely different than spraying a metallic paint, not to mention longer lasting), I'm still giving this product 3 stars simply because they look alright for the price and they still work with my windows.Part of the reason I took the stickers off is so I could put a couple spray coats of clear epoxy on before filling the planters. Even with the epoxy coating, I'm not expecting these to last more than a couple years exposed to the elements, but we'll see. Hopefully by the time the copper paint wears through I can afford to have some real copper planters custom made to fit my windows.

My boyfriend and I live in a 1928 Colonial house in central MA, white, aluminum siding, black shutters. We moved in in April. The house was beautifully restored but we wanted to add some additional fullness and color to the garden, which we did, some perennials a landscaper put in and some annuals I added myself.There is a triple window in the dining room that doesn't have shutters, and it seemed like a good place to put window boxes. I looked around and liked these the best, ordered them with Achla Designs Window Flower Box Wall Brackets, 8 inch, SFB-02. I'm assuming the boxes will turn green, which will be fine with me, but I love the way they look now, a subtle sheen. I put in geraniums, impatiens, sweet potato vine, fuschia, and alyssum.

These looked nice out of the box. Nothing special but for $41 I wasn't expecting much given they were copper plated. I just did not figure that the copper plated would be more of a mere suggestion of copper plating. That would have been fine except I was going to incorporate these into a fountain and even took the time to seal the insides with a clear coating to avoid tarnishing. Unfortunately they rusted all over the outside and will now have to be discarded. They rusted even though they were under the overhang of the roof and were not out in the weather, so to speak. At least I am glad they decided to rust up before I permanently mortared them into my fountain. I don't usually feel ripped off on products, but this time I do.

I put 4 square well draining containers in the planter. I had to buy “feet” for the containers to avoid them soaking up icky rusty standing water. Something about the way the holes are punched or placed does not attract the water. I have to tip the planter back and forth like a see saw to get the water to drain. Not what I’d expect for the price. Also I should have double checked to see if the dimensions of the planter were truly compatible with the brackets that popped up as suggested accessories. They are decent brackets but they aren’t a great fit for this planter (too big).

OMG i cannot tell you how exstatic i am over these planters. i know it seems silly but i am in love with them. i almost don't want to install them on the house. i love the look of copper. and these boxes do not disappoint. they are sturdy than god i was so afaid they would be flimsy. but i was so happy to get them and see a good design and substantial feel. not afraid to put the dirt and plants in them. there are no drainage holes however. which is not a problem for me. but may be for others.

This is a well made copper planter. We use two of them to grow herbs on our deck, but the depth is well suited for anything including flowering plants and some vegetables. The angled sides and the horizontal ribs are a nice design touch. Very pleased with these and would recommend them highly.

After receiving we changed our minds as it wasn't exactly what we were looking for and bought with confidence due to the FREE Returns that is listed on the page. Well.... the reply we received was lets just say less than satisfactory and seller expects us to pay some anyways! Taking this issue up with Amazon. Will change feedback if seller reconsiders.
