Review is for the NEW formula, not the old formula as pictured!
2019: I am beyond sad along with many many other people, that Clairol stop making the old formula. Apparently their new formula is horrible, according to reviews on any of the new boxes. I’ll keep buying this old formula until it’s just unavailable. After that I guess I’ll have to switch brands.UPDATE as of August 2020:I was misled by a picture of the old formula on the Amazon website, and according to their return policy I cannot get my money back. Even though I was deceived! I’m going to call Amazon and try to get this straightened out. I ordered two 3-packs so if I can’t get it straightened out I’m out over $50. So many negative reviews have been written about the new formula that I’m not even going to use it.UPDATE:Amazon gave me a refund but I was told this was a rare exception. I had planned to donate the hair color but decided to try it out when I had used the last box of the old formula. Here are my observations:Color is now applied to dry, unwashed hair. I made sure to color in a day that I had MINIMAL product in my dry hair. Also there are two different sets of instructions, one for first timers and one for those with roots showing. Since I was merely changing formulas and not seeking any drastic color change (it is semi permanent after all, and you shouldnt try to get drastic with it at all; you can’t go much lighter but you can go darker than your natural shade), I decided to pretend I was a first timer and just applied the color all over and set the timer for 20 minutes. My roots are not super obvious because this is close to my natural shade. TIP: if you have long hair you’ll need two boxes. I could’ve made 1-1/2 boxes work but I got my hair very saturated w the formula. Since you’re applying to dry hair, you finish up a bottle pretty quickly and I felt it was best to be safe and use two.My hair is rinsed and conditioned and so far looks super evenly colored. My eyebrows didn’t take the color as well as usual though. Be careful doing those! Don’t get it in your eyes, for Pete’s sake. If you are a klutz, leave your eyebrows alone! But overall it worked fine for me. NEW SCENT is nice too. Fingers crossed it’ll work out. My main concern was if it didn’t go on evenly, but I believe having minimal product in my hair, hair that’s in good shape, and using the extra box were the keys.AFTER TWO DAYS: much less color down the drain while washing my hair for the first time, compared to the old formula! Pleasantly surprised! Will purchase again! Hair feels great and color is still even.

Difficult to find my color anymore or Semi-Permanent in any color
I've been using Clairol Natural Instincts Semi-Permanent Hair Dye for years. It's better than full-permanent because the roots don't show as much when it grows out and is less obvious that it's dye. Not only does it look more natural but it's also less damaging to your hair. I used to be able to find this color of natural red in most stores. Now I can't find it ANYWHERE except online.

Amazing! Darker than pic, but fades well
I LOVE this hair color! I like that it’s more natural and healthier for my hair, and that it’s demi-permanent. I have to put soft black (level 3) on my roots with Revlon Root Erase to cover the gray/white because nothing else will cover them! It’s been hard to find a matching color for the rest of my hair that has a reddish color to it. I prefer my hair to be bright red, but I’m having to go darker now to cover the roots. This color is 3R so it blends perfectly! I do the roots first, dry them, and then put this on top of them and all over. Turns out looking black at first, but it fades since it’s semi-permanent and ends up in a nice blended ombré look (if you pull some of the Root Erase through when you do the roots) after a week or two.

very natural appearance
I like that it only takes 15 to 20 minutes a month to keep my aging auburn hair looking fresh, not dull and drab, which tends to happen to auburn hair. Used for years. Love it. I only wish they had continued adding that two week refresh that they used to have in their packages. Also, this color, light auburn is getting very hard to find. I hope they keep making it.

Not Spiced Tea Color, but colorful.
For many years I used Spiced Tea Natural Instincts Hair Color. Then for five years I could not. (Cancer Bald). My hair is now 6 inches long and I decided to color again. This was, what I thought would be the closest to Spiced Tea as I could get.. It's a pretty orange so I guess I was wrong. Will use the remaining 5 sets as needed then I'll go back to grey/white.. LOL

Beautiful, easy-to-use color
I have never colored my hair at home before, but I felt like my hair had been looking a little dull lately and thought I’d try it. I didn’t want to make a drastic change but was looking to punch up my natural color and this was about as close as I could find in any brand. This color, Sedona Sunset, is beautiful. It’s slightly darker brown than my natural color but still has lots of red in it without being too orangey. My hair feels soft and looks very shiny. It was easy to use, especially for a first-timer. I’m very happy with this color!

Color not lasting on my gray hair.
I wanted to change from Nice and Easy (as it is more permanent) to somethingeasier on my hair. After two weeks of having put this on my hair, it is already fading quickly, unfortunately. I do need to say my hair's gray new growth is very hard to penetrate, however.hard to

TOO DARK, DOES NOT WASH OUT
Beware! This turns out a lot darker than the photo (pretty much black!) and does not wash off in 28 washes. It's been 2 months and my hair is still almost black.
