Good book for beginners

Good book. I liked the thorough explanations of each problem. Word problems require some technique for each type, age, rate, money etc. The strategies and tips section was just what I needed. No book I have seen before gives this. Without this tip section I could not have done many if not most of the problems. People forget that mathematics took several thousand years to get where it is now. Things are not obvious looking forward as opposed to retrospectively. Things like negative numbers, irrational numbers, Imaginary numbers and many more math topics were debated for centuries. Teachers introduce these things to young students as though they were perfectly self evident. Results are frequently disappointing.Write another word problem book; I'll buy it.

Intricate and well done workbook.

I love Chris McMullens books! For the adult who wishes to challenge themselves or have some fun, these are absolutely worth it. He is also available via email which is awesome.

Chris McMullen is great at writing tutorial math books, especially for calculus. This book misses 5 stars because there are no links in the Kindle version to the various categories of word problems. The table of contents should have been produced so that a person could easily navigate to the appropriate group of word problems by clicking in the contents section. Instead, I have to go through the pages one by bloody one. So boo and hiss for that!

I love the book. The book is very understandable and easy but some it is hard to use your calculations. I still recommend this book. The book give you examples on what need to understand it. So I am happy I got to work on the book. It gives me the knowledge to better at word problem.
