NKJV, MacArthur Study Bible, 2nd Edition, Cloth over Board, Blue, Comfort Print: Unleashing God's Truth One Verse at a Time Review: For those who like the preaching and teaching of John MacArthur. - This is one of the top conservative Evangelical study bibles on the market. Although I use the ESV as much as the NKJV, and use the NASB 77 as well, the NKJV is my favorite contemporary Protestant bible translation. Personally, since I have the one volume MacArthur Bible Commentary, I actually prefer to use that and several Bible translations to using the MacArthur Study Bible. Other hold the opposite opinion. Either way is fine. John MacArthur calls himself a "leaky" Dispensationalist and a Calvinist Baptist. Many non-Calvinists have misconceptions about what standard Calvinism really is. The Five Points are only defined in opposition to the 5 points of the Dutch Arminian Remonstrance against Reformed doctrines, which was only called Calvinism because John Calvin became the foremost proponent of Reformed Protestantism. MacArthur's approach is to comment upon what the bible teaches as a whole. The classic teachings of Reformed theology are presented naturally, so the Five Points are taught among all the other Points of scriptural teaching as a logical whole. God's holiness and benevolence and goodness and righteousness and sovereignty and providence are all present in the comments. One section of the Study Bible presents doctrines topical by Scripture reference, so as to demonstrate that Reformed doctrines are just what is in the Bible when scripture is used to interpret scripture. Just look up the scriptures by topic to see what the Bible actually teaches. Lots of Christians who use the MacArthur Study Bible may not accept every single thing John MacArthur teaches, but he is such a good and effective teacher that it is still worthwhile to use this study bible. Review: Goatskin Leather Bible - I bought my mother the goatskin bible for Mother's Day. She says it is so nice and smells so good! She absolutely loves it. The MacArthur Study Bibles are amazing when it comes to studying the Bible in depth. The study notes are very helpful in gaining a better understanding of the scriptures. My mother opted for the NKJV. I have the ESV. I highly recommend your preferred version. The study notes are still the same. If you already have an amazing study bible, you can also purchase the MacArthur Bible Commentary. I have one and it's nice! The breakdown for each scripture is in the book and you can read it along with your preferred Bible as needed. Which is quite helpful if you prefer KJV, as there is not a KJV bible from John MacArthur.

Best Study Bible for Daily Reading
I am a huge proponent of solid exegesis and I do truly believe that translations that are more word-for-word are more beneficial to a Christian looking to grow. I'm not a fan on giving people an easier translation because they "aren't that good at reading". That's an excuse to not try. The NASB is a solid translation and MacArthur's notes are extremely in-depth. Some pages contain more notes than Scripture. MacArthur does have a bias toward his own theological opinions (which I beleive to be mostly biblical anyways) but as with any work outside of scripture, you must understand that it is not the last word. MacArthur acknowledges this several times. I've used this to understand context historically while reading. It's so easy to glance at the notes for clarification, especially on implicit material. The leathersoft material does not feel cheap and the Bible itself is very beautiful. The notes inside are blue at certain keywords and each verse number is blue as well which helps to speed up reference-hopping. I'd recommend this to anyone. I would've poured over this as an adolescent and I definitely enjoy reading through it today.

The font used is very readable and beautiful to look at.
Took me 24 years to have the confidence to buy my own Bible, especially a Study one. So I made sure I get the right one. After thorough research and prayer, I finally got this one. Perfect for me. Also it's a very beautiful Bible. Letters are very readable.

Everything about this Bible, the version (NKJV), the layout, the scholarly (but entirely understandable) commentaries therein and the mammoth scope of this book will give you a huge understanding of God's Word. I did a 'Bible in one year' reading using this version and it lasted well over that year because of the in-depth comments on pretty much every verse and the 'extras' covering geography, history and introductions. I'm into my third reading and I'm always leaning new things - I would recommend this version to anyone.

I really enjoy John Macarthur's commentary on the bible. However, the quality of this product is not up to standard. Pages stick together, on some pages the text is blurred/stretched and some pages were bent affecting the text. It is so unfortunate. The quality compared to the first edition is worrying. However, the content and outlines etc are of very high quality. It is just unfortunate about the remainder of the product.

Explanatory notes verse by verse at the bottom of each page and cross-references to other parts of the bible to illuminate the integrated structure of the 66 books of the Bible. Maps, concordance, fundamental doctrines, tables showing Jesus' life, ministry on earth, how Jesus fulfilled with exactness so many of the Old Testament prophesies that He is the promised Messiah, the Saviour of mankind.
