Great Taste, Fast Cleanup, So Simple to Use
After considerable pressure from my daughter, whose Asian friend says their family's rice cooker is in use pretty much 24/7, we decided to buy one for our family. After researching quite a few models, I went with the Zojirushi because of its simple design and good reputation. It was a fine decision. We use this thing all the time. My kids love being able to cook rice for themselves. Pros * Controls - strike that, control singular - so simple that even your grandma who could never quite bring herself to use a cordless phone can't mess it up * Very easy to clean * Rice tastes much better than what you get with the stovetop * Works well whether you're cooking a lot at once or just one side serving Cons * Does not require you to hook it up to WiFi, install an app on your phone, and confirm your identity just to make it stop impersonating a WiFi access point [OK, this is only a con according to engineers who work for LG] Other Thoughts *Saying it cooks 3 cups is a poor translation - it cooks up to 3 gou of rice, with a gou being a standard measure in Japan of enough dry rice for an entree-size serving. A gou is 180 cubic centimeters, or roughly 3/4 of an American "cup" measurement. Americans tend to serve rice as a side dish, and I find half a gou per person works well. As far as I can tell all rice cookers, even American and European brands, measure their capacity in gou but confusingly call it cup in English. The bottom line is that if you want to use American measuring cups with a rice maker, then figure a 3-cup cooker can only take 2 cups. *Don't worry if Uncle Ben isn't familiar with measurements in gou. To cook rice, all you need is the ratio of water to rice, which is usually 3:2 but can be different for certain rice varieties. In other words, if Uncle Ben says put in 2 cups of rice and 3 cups of water, but you just want to cook a 1/2 gou, you put in your 1/2 gou of rice and add 3/4 gou of water. *The cooking bowl lifts out for easy cleaning. I clean it along with the lid and accessories with a bit of soap and a sponge [sponges without an abrasive side are available on Amazon or at many Asian grocery stores]. A few quick swipes, rinse twice, and it's done.

Happy with purchase
Everything I have made has turned out great and much better than in other conventional rice cookers I have owned. I love my big Zoji but this is so much quicker I use it most of the time. The 6 cup rice capacity turned out to be the size I needed and was purchased because it was the smallest with a warmer. Most types of rice cooks quickly in approximately 15 minutes, but tastes better if you let it sit for at least 10 minutes before fluffing. For speed and quality in cooking, a definite 5 stars but took off a star for the pot being really thin. After only a week of heavier use than usual to test it, the pot is slightly discolored but it does not affect the non stick. No problems with sticking. Brown rice was a real test but isn’t one I cook very much. First tried it without soaking and it was messy without overflow but needed to be carefully monitored. Soaking it for approximately 20 minutes made a difference. The lid and the main body of the cooker are well made and heavier than usual for this type of rice cooker from other makers. Overall it seems to be the usual Zojirushi quality and should prove to be well worth the money spent. The steamer tray is well made but a bit disappointing in the area to remove it from the bowl. It isn’t that easy to get out quickly. Tiger makes a steamer basket that doesn’t transfer flavors to rice and is easy to remove with a slot to put a fork in to lift it out. ///// Oct 2025 update: watch for big prime sales as this was almost $20 less now than when I bought it. Price is now a no brainer for this Zoji. Basmati rice is my favorite and this cooks it perfectly every time. Even at the higher price, no regrets.

Long lasting rice cooker with good care. Makes prefect fluffy rice.
2nd time purchasing this rice cooker. The 1st one I ordered lasted me 3 yrs. It makes the perfect rice. The only thing I will say is when your washing the rice pot is to not scrub with anything hard or you'll scrape it. Let it soak with some warm/hot water and a dash of soap then wash it if you have hard rice at bottom. This rice pot is also great for elders. When cooking rice wash it three times and put just enough water that covers the first line of your index finger.

Does What You Need Very Well.
This is actually my second one. My first lasted for 10 years plus. Works great for lentils and some grains as well. Set it and forget it. It doesn’t have any fancy features but it makes good rice. And really, how often do you use those fancy features? The bowl is totally non-stick.

Good meeting of price point and solid performance
I eat a lot of Quinoa and Forbidden Rice. Pros - this will make grains. Follow the same course as with Rice. Very convenient to use. The pan and lid do fine in the dishwasher. Cons - I have to cover the lid with paper towels when I prepare Forbidden Rice. Otherwise the dyes in the rice go "everywhere. That's a minor problem. Quinoa seems to scorch a little bit. I eat it anyhow. This device does not have a keep warm feature. For single or double servings of rice or quinoa, it fits the price point just fine.

It’s like cooking rice but it actually does it right
Listen up rice people (not like that, you know why you’re here). I did exactly what you did to get to this point. I googled “best rice maker 202x” and found this and a few others on almost every list I could find. I chose this one for price and one button ease, probably something you may or may not also be interested in. I have several children I have to feed and when they’re screaming and running and throwing things and hanging on to my leg as I’m trying to cook a dinner that our ancestors in the 80s would call 5 star dining since it’s not microwaved or filled with butter. The first time I used this, I GROSSLY underestimated the cook time. I was still ankles deep in my pasta sauce when this puppy clicked, my last rice cooker from the early 2000’s would have taken 2 hours and a cigarette break to complete. Anyways, rice was…. Not sticky mush with a burnt layer at the bottom. (Yes I wash my rice you goons). I couldn’t believe it. Best bowl of rice I’ve had since the weird waiter at Yen Chings caressed my shoulders and told me the “rice is special here” when I was like 8. Today, I didn’t have the ingredients to make traditional Spanish rice and opted for “let’s dump a can of rotel and some seasoning in this pot and see what happens”. Going back to my old rice cooker. If I even thought about doing something like that with that old thing it would have exploded and taken out me and my loud neighbors house at the same time. My god. Not only did it not explode, the rice came out…. GOOD. And cooked right. Doesn’t get better than this fam. 5 stars. Buy this. Stop looking.

good unit, zero problems after a year of weekly use
owned this for like almost a year now, use it weekly. replaced an older, high end panasonic. I like that this is smaller in diameter but taller. I like the glass lid. I like the removable cord. Have never had an issue with over cooked rice. would recommend.
