The Foxwood Treasury

The description of this book on Amazon is inaccurate. The description says that the treasury includes “The Foxwood Kidnap.” This is not true. Instead, the treasury includes “The Foxwood Treasure.” The other three stories - “The Foxwood Regatta”, “The Foxwood Smugglers”, and “The Foxwood Surprise” - listed in the description are actually in the book. I still gave the book five stars because it is a lovely little book filled with delightful stories. I just wanted to warn you about the description so you don’t end up with a duplicate copy of “The Foxwood Treasure” like I did.

This is one of the sweetest books I've ever read. It is filled with lovely pictures and the stories are as interesting as they are cute. Simply one of the sweetest animal tales I've read yet, right up there with Brambly Hedge and Beatrix Potter. My only complaint about it, is that while it is a classic in England, it's hard to find here in America which I think is a shame. This book should really be brought back out and republished and made available to the american market, where it would surely be a big hit!

Beautiful book and great stories. They are a little long and detailed for my 3 year old daughter, but she will definitely enjoy them as she gets older.

Beautiful book with heartwarming stories.

The book interior pages are in perfect condition. Crinkled cover, no problem, but the book smells as though it's been stored in a damp area--slightly moldy smelling, but no mold. Odd, but not overpowering, so I took off one star. I'm overall happy to have this cute book, but I am slightly affronted at having paid $19.98 as it had a price sticker for $4.99 on it. As I said, however, I'm happy with the book.

Book arrived in timeframe stated and in very good condition. These are excellent stories for children and adults will like them too.

The dust jacket and some of the pages were in rough shape on this copy. Would have been good to have been warned.

I bought a secondhand copy of this from World of Books and I couldn't recommend them more. Other than a small scuff on the bottom of the front hardcover, there isn't so much as a crease on the pages and this book looks like new. Unlike most other reviewers, I have not bought this book for a child, but for myself (I am late thirties!). I have become a bit obsessed lately after discovering this style of cosy, comforting, beautifully illustrated books for the first time. It started off with the Brambly Hedge Collection, followed by Inga Moores illustrated version of The Wind in the Willows and now this beautiful treasury. I don't know if it is the worries and pressures of the world in which we now live (Covid, War, price inflation etc!) but I find an immense sense of comfort in these books. I can while away a good hour or two just gazing at and appreciating the extraordinary illustrations and the fantastical worlds created. I think the illustrations in these books are both timeless and ageless and I am very proud to have this Foxwood Treasury as part of my little collection.
