Cromulent mouse/keyboard device swap switch, no frills
(Review for USB-USS4) Works flawlessly, no fuss, nothing to cause concern for compatibility issues as it works the same as simply plugging/unplugging the device: simple switch to swap a single USB device between two connections. USB 2.0 good for a mouse or keyboard. Comes with two USB-A/B cables. Reasonable size and aesthetics, obviously not premium but does not look or feel like junk or flimsy either. Good value for what it does: if you just want to swap a mouse or keyboard between two devices without plugging and unplugging this will do exactly that and nothing more.

Small, Simple, Effective
In photos within easy arms reach I have a Laptop, Mini PC, 2 Macs, A Color Inkjet and a Laser Printer,. 3 permanent external Raid/Hard Drive storage Units. Two monitors for three computers. Imac screen is used as target display for Mac Mini using Sabrent to switch usage between the two Macs connected as target display with Thunderbolt cable . Keyboard and mouse can be used for either Mac or Mini PC. Sabrent switch hard to see in Photo just follow the white Mac Keyboard Cable. Switch is simple to set up, two cables out the rear, one to each Mac, keyboard and mouse plug into front of rigedly mounted unit double stickie foam taped to desktop. Sabrent switch works flawlessly with USB 2.0 or 3.0, either or both. can switch from iMac to Mac mini in just a few seconds. Switch is a much more elegant, less expensive and simple solution than trying to wrestle with Bluetooth Keyboard, Trackpad and Mouse; not a problem with one Mac, but with two Macs side by side, mouse ends up being attached to both macs, or neither. Bluetooth is unstable as peripherals won't stay put, either Mac can grab either Magic Mouse or keyboard. My setup is: cheap, generic mouse plugged into one of the Mac keyboard USB ports so the Mac keyboard cable alone will attach both keyboard and mouse. My office set-up is complicated and it has taken a lot of time and trial and error, (wasted time and money), to get it all set up and seamlessly working together. The Sabrent switch was a no-brainer. Just plug it in and it works. iMac is USB 2.0, Mini is USB 3.0; not a problem, it was just plug and play. The only real problem is if You want to set up a mac as target display. What mac will work with the other mac and whether to use a mini-display cable or thunderbolt cable. 27.5 inch display 2008 to 2012, 25.5 inch 2010 -2012. will work as target displays. If both have mini display ports then you can use mini display cable If one or both have a thunderbolt port you must use thunderbolt cable. They look the same, but are different. My Mini has Thunderbolt, iMac is Displayport. It only works with a Mac Store Thunderbolt cable. If you use Mac Bluetooth keyboard Command + F2 will switch Display output, but keyboard won't switch without having to pair it to each computer each time you switch! Sparing you the details - it just doesn't work! As mentioned, Bluetooth with two macs is problematic. Logitech Bluetooth switchable keyboard will switch the Macs but not the display because Command, F2 key used to switch the display does not work as F2 key is dedicated to Bluetooth. Just take my word for it, I found out having wasted a lot of time and money, wired keyboard and mouse with Sabrent hard-wired switch is the way to go. For me, the biggest objection to wired devices is that you end up with a lot of long unused wire hanging all over the place, messy, ugly, gets in the way, gets tangled, etc, etc. I have a picture of the underside of my keyboard, shows how to avoid that. This review is more than just about the sabrent switch, though it tells how nicely it fits into the big picture. I how it answers a lot of questions you might have. Walter O.

Smooth and Simple Way to Share USB Devices
Smooth and Simple Way to Share USB Devices This little Sabrent USB 2.0 sharing switch turned out to be a really practical addition to my setup. I’ve been using it to share a printer and an external hard drive between two laptops, and it works exactly as described. The switch itself is compact, lightweight, and doesn’t take up much space on the desk. I like that there are LED indicators that make it clear which computer currently has control, so there’s no guessing. The button on top is firm and responsive—just a quick press and it switches instantly without any hiccups. Setup couldn’t have been easier—plug the USB devices into the switch, run the included cables to each computer, and you’re good to go. I didn’t need any software or drivers, and everything was recognized right away. Transfer speeds are what you’d expect from USB 2.0, which is fine for printing, scanning, and general file access. The only thing to keep in mind is that this is USB 2.0, not 3.0, so if you’re planning on moving very large files or using high-speed storage devices, you’ll hit limitations. For basic peripherals like printers, scanners, keyboards, or even a webcam, though, it’s more than sufficient. Bottom line: A very handy little device that makes it simple to share USB peripherals between two computers. Reliable, easy to use, and a solid value if you don’t need USB 3.0 speeds.

Works great with Microsoft wireless mouse and keyboard
Bought two of these and both work great with wireless Microsoft Sculpt keyboard (tiny dongle) and oldskool wireless Natural 7000 mouse (giant dongle). Has a large remote button to switch between computers -- ya can't miss hitting that thing! It doens't do USB emulation to keep each PCs thinking it has a constant connection; therefore, you'll hear the USB disconnect/connect sound when switching, but this also gives you immediate feedback that you actually switched. I've found this way more reliable than several other units that use hotkeys to switch, advertising such emulation as a feature. Unfortunately, with some devices such as wireless keyboards, you never know what you're going to get once you try to switch. Hotkey-switching functionality of similar devices sounds slick, but it's no feature when many of them fail to work properly with wireless mice and keyboards (and 3 out of 3 similar devices failed with my Sculpt keyboard). Contrary to the litany of dicey devices out there, this thing just works. I'd give it 5 stars if: 1) They designed it with a longer cable for the remote switcher button; it's only about 18 inches. However, this is easily remedied with some solder, electrical tape, and heat shrink tubing -- it's just a pair of conductors, so it's easy to extend that button to more easily hide the device out of sight/under a desk; trust me, you'll want this thing hidden, especially due to the following: 2) While it's nice to have the option of being able to switch between up to 4 devices, all four USB-A cables are hard-wired to the unit. It would be nice if they just used 4 on-device USB-A female jacks and included a few USB-A to USB-A patch cables, which would also allow easy options to use longer cables if desired. I would gather most folks use these with only 2 PCs, so a pair would make most happy, while offering flexibility for all. I might have to take one apart and explore the ease of adding female jacks ;). For now, this too was easily fixed for my 2-device needs by lopping off the two unused cables just to keep it tidier under the desk where the device could be velcroed out of sight. All-in, this is a nice little device for the price, and it works great with wireless mice and keyboards (at least the ones I have tested). Look at reviews for other similar devices and you'll see them littered with complaints of incompatibility with both.

Bad Electrical Design / Poor Human-Machine Interface
Update: After using this for a few days one of my computer's ports appears broken. It will not accept input from this Sabrent USB switch device anymore nor any other USB device! I'm very concerned now about the electrical leak issues I've seen in other reviews. Seriously, one of my laptop's USB port is randomly and permanently broken out of nowhere after using this device. This product should be taken off the market. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK! ********************* I needed a USB switch so I could use my keyboard & mouse on different computers. They're each hooked up to separate monitors and I didn't want another set of input devices on the desk. The cord with the selector button attached is way too short. I want to put the switch box away out of sight, but I can't because the selector button needs to be accessible. Also, why on earth would you put the source indicator LEDs on the switch and not on the selector button? Also, the LEDs are VERY small and faint. I appreciate not having my workstation lit up from artificial light, but these LEDs are almost unusable viewing from an angle if there's any natural light shining on them or if you're not looking directly into the lights. The rubber pads on the bottom of the switch box are insufficient- the box slides all over the desk. With all the cables coming out of it, it's a complete mess of cables that can't be tidied up. There are no pads on the selector switch box so it flails around like a scorpion tail. I don't want to screw up my desk, otherwise I'd slather these plastic pieces of junk in Velcro. Thankfully I only have three computers attached, so when cycling through the selections, it skips #4. I have my Xbox One connected to input #1, and strangely I need to cycle through that choice even though the Xbox is turned off. I would have preferred the rear of the switch had 4 USB Type B ports instead of hardwired cables. I would have preferred to supply my own cable lengths that match the distance to be traveled, or, more importantly, I would have liked to omit wires for any of the four outputs not connected. While the cost of a KVM is *completely overpriced* (it's cheaper to buy a dedicated monitor and a USB switch than a KVM), the cost of this item is also too expensive. I noticed that after everyone started working from home due to the COVID-19 virus, this shot up in price. PRICE GOUGING!! $19.99 and I'd be happy. At $34.99 I did not get the value I wanted, but I'll keep it because it meets some needs. When switching outputs sometimes my keyboard won't connect to the computer. The mouse tends to always work, but, e.g. I'll notice right away that Caps Lock or Num Lock lights are frozen. Then you need to cycle through all the selections for it to work again. I would have preferred there was a constant "keep alive" connection to each computer. It's SUPER ANNOYING to have all the beeps when you're disconnecting and connecting peripherals from Windows & switching inputs. I have my own USB peripheral orchestra going on here! If you fix all the above issues, it's a 5-star product and worth $35. I'm increasingly tempted to hack my own cables and LEDs onto this device. I don't have time for that so I remain annoyed with using this product.

I love mine, wish I had known there was a usb 3.0 out there before though lol
I share a monitor, keyboard and mouse between my work laptop and my personal laptop. For me, for what I use this for its worth every dollar. I obviously don't switch the monitor signal with this device but I do run a Corsair k70 and a wireless Logitech M705 off it. I paired it with a 'Anker 4-Port USB 3.0 hub' (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XMD7KPU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). The very first time I hooked up all my peripherals and connected this to my two laptops, both took about 2 minutes to map out the devices on the hub. Ever since then its been perfect. When switching between devices the peripherals are usable within a second or two - super fast IMO. Nice thing is I have two extra ports on the hub that I can use for thumb drives to shuttle files back and forth between the work and personal machines. It also frees up an extra USB port on each laptop. I think its plenty sturdy enough for normal office / workspace use. Especially if you're going to plug it in and leave it in one place. I don't have any complaints about the two usb cables that came with it. The jacks on the main device are holding up well. I'm a fan of dark rooms and as such bright LED's are the enemy. While in use this has a single blue LED lit up that indicates which "side" you are connected to. It's plenty bright to see during the day but not so bright that its annoying while watching movies. Mine sits right below my monitor well within my line of sight and doesn't bug me. I'm connected to this thing 24/7. It never gets hot, nothing weird, not even warm. I've had USB hubs do that in the past. I love love love that I don't have to had an external power supply on this (or the USB hub I pair it will. ) The button gives a nice satisfying click. It's easy to tell if you didn't hit it hard enough without looking at the led's to confirm. That all said there is always room for improvement. If the following things were changed I would pay another $10 for this happily - in no specific order: 1. Braided cables with metal ends - To replace the plasticy cheaper USB cables. 2. Swap the two Type B jacks to Type A - This would be a great usability upgrade. 3. Quality rubber feet 4. IP68 - Most of these will live on desks and people spill stuff. I haven't yet but its a possibility. 5. Move all jacks to the back of the device - If I had to pick a single thing to change on this device <- this would be it. 6. Metal housing

Convenient and reliable
Easily lets me switch between a laptop and desktop so I can work from home using a work laptop and game at home on weekends using the same keyboard, mouse and monitor. Seems to manage the switch between machines reliably but has a button for the rare occasions it does not switch automatically. Pretty impressed with how neat it makes my set up.

Pretty good
I kept buying generic USB switches that are just rebrand of another manufacturer, and they all had a common problem. They all had ghosting key presses. They would either not register a key stroke or double up on a key stroke. They often randomly stop switching all devices attached(mouse, keyboard, webcam, headset), and would bug out. Sabrent is a well known brand, and so far this thing hasn't dropped a beat. The price is great, even less then some of the many others I've tried. While this is working well, I haven't had it as long as the other, so this review may change in the future. If it last a year without bugging out, I'll be happy. Pros: 1- Switching from 1 PC to another is quick, with no delay. It's only as fast as your OS will register the peripherals being connected. 2- Can have a USB micro connected to give additional power to the USB devices(I havent needed it, but glad it's an option). Cons, every product has at least 1: 1- The USB cables that connect to the 4 other PCs(if you want to connect to 4, the option is there, I needed 4) is attached to the HUB, so if you only need 2, you have to cable manage the other 2 lose cables. Not a huge deal, but worth mentioning. 2- The button to switch, while big and responsive, only cycles through 1-4. It would have been nice to be able to press, Left for 1, up for 2, right for 3, down for 4, or something. Again, not a huge deal, but it can be annoying hearing the other PC's make the USB connecting sounds when rotating through. That's it. I would recommend this one for sure even with the cons, since it hasn't been ghosting my key presses, and switching to the next PC instantly with no delay.
