Not built to last.
I bought this a year and a half ago but have only used it a hand full of time. I had it out today for some low light photography and the aperture ring felt like it was grinding. Next thing I know the front of the lens is sliding forward about half a centimeter. While this lens is metal and feels solid, it is not built to last and will be the last that I purchase for SLR Magic. I will stick to lenses not made in china from now on.

Amazing lens for the price
I use this lens with my Sony NEX 7 and the quality of my videos and stills are incredible. Professional all the way.The depth of field and low light capabilities with the f/1.4 are just stunning. The multi-blade aperture opens and closes with a ring on the lens (clickless) and the perfect circle it forms creates some of the best bokeh you've ever seen.Opening up to 1.4 gives an almost 'dream' look to your photos, while closing down to 3 or so will give you such sharpness your jaw will drop. The metal build is outstanding, feels damn good in your hands and looks great on the NEX 7.Both rings (focus & aperture) glide smoothly with precise control. There is no built in image stabilization but I found that shooting handheld video was surprisingly easy. If you actually concentrate on being as smooth as possible the results will put a smile on your face. For best results though, a fluid head tripod can't be beat.No auto focus either for those who prefer it.. one note: manual focus with this lens and the NEX 7 is a breeze using the focus assistant which highlights 'in focus' areas in red, even while shooting video. VERY helpful! For the record, I bought and returned the newer Sony 35mm (OSS) lens and bought this instead... I'm way happier with this one (and it's cheaper). If you want unmatched, stunning pictures and video.. and you don't mind the manual focus then by all means GET IT!!!
