Small chess nuts 40% rotten
Small in size and 40% rotten. Came with some white specs of mold on top of them.

Small and rotten
Some of the worst chestnuts I’ve ever had. Roasted them like I normally do and over half were inedible and the rest hard and plain tasting. Very disappointed.

Great value & qualty
I ordered these as a gift for my step son and had them delivered to him. The report from him is these are large and delicious chestnuts. Delivery was very prompt also. Thanks for being a great seller and having a high quality product. A++++

Bitter
First shipment arrived damaged and opened. Did not use any. Second shipment arrived OK however chestnuts were not good. I have been eating chestnuts almost my entire life and these were bitter, some were spoiled. I tried roasting some, I tried boiling some and even added bay leaves (old Italian receptor) to some that I boiled. I might have had 4 or 5 chestnuts that weren’t bad. Would not order from this company again. I have had better luck buying chestnuts from S.Korea at our local oriental market ;of those about half are no good but much cheaper)

delicious but needed to be roasted in pot with lid!
They arrive damp. Take them out of the wrapper immediately and wash and scrub with hot water, no soap. Pat dry. Roast them in a pot WITH A LID. You must use a lid as some may explode. It takes longer in the oven, but then there are no burn marks and it smells great. You know they are done when you hear one or two explode in the pot. Take them out, DO NOT OPEN LID ON POT. Let cool. The chestnuts are delicious and HUGE, completely suitable for Thanksgiving stuffing or salting. Your house will smell like a Manhatten street corner in December while roasting! (the pot is a bugger to clean) What we didn't use we fed to the squirrels. PS. Image is after roasting.

I would't buy again
I'm not sure where the chestnuts were from but I feel they may have been imported from far away. It took them over a week to get to me and they came in a simple plastic bag with some paper tissues stuffed inside to help with the moisture; the entire ensemble was placed in a USPS envelope. They do not taste great and quite a few were already gone bad. I'm sure it's also my fault for wondering chestnuts online but I couldn't find them at my local Whole Foods anymore. Quite disappointing.

A little pricey, but they were all good, without any waste
All chestnuts were good, unlike the ones I buy in the store, where up to 40% usually are bad. So the higher price was justified

came loose packed in bubble mailer, ALL were coated in dust or dirt or mold - had an earthy smell
most of these are pretty small, like in-the-shell hazelnuts, about a dozen were closer to the size of small in-the-shell pecans. They were loosely packed inside the bubble mailer they were shipped in.ALL of the chestnuts were very evenly covered in what looked like dust or dirt & the package had an earthy smell to it so I'm guessing it wasn't mold. Most of it rinsed off during the float test to check for bad chestnuts, only 7 chestnuts floated during the test. I hand washed all the nuts, and they look pretty good after rinsing. This is my first time with chestnuts, so I'm not sure just how much give a good & fresh chestnut is supposed to have, but to my touch, they were all very firm with just a slightly noticeable give to them.I roasted 6 of these, and they all had semi-translucent grey or brown discoloration throughout the nutmeat. From what I've read, they may not be edible
