This is a thin but durable leather cover stretched over a hard and stable plastic structure. I know this because my 7+ case was dropped about 10 times and eventually the cover rubbed off in the corner. The dark blue eventually darkened to midnight blue, but in a good way. I went with black this time and it's more like a dark gray. Both are pleasing to me, but of course that's a personal preference. The interior lining kept the back of my 7+ scratch free. Mostly, I'm happy that they were able to make a very protective case that is thin enough that it doesn't hide the beauty of the phone. Oh the metal buttons are very nice too. Only minor gripe is it's a little tough to reach the silent mode switch with the latest version of the case.

I love the buttons! Mine is yellow and the buttons match the color of the case perfectly. Maybe a bit pricey at $40 and not a lot of protection. If you’re prone to dropping your phone this is not for you. BUT the lip on the front allows you to place face down without screen touching the table - even with a glass screen protector on (and everyone should have one of those - has saved my screen several times). The open ended bottom allows you to hear the speakers clearly and no fiddling with a little hole to plug it in. Happy with purchase and the bright color means it’s easier to find as I am constantly misplacing my phone.

**Q: Is it water resistant?**
A: I’ve gotten mine wet several times. Overtime the case will darken but it doesn’t ruin.

**Q: Why image is black ?**
A: Apple makes the leather case in several colors.  "Sometimes" Amazon get the wrong image posted.  Just make sure that your order reflects the color that you want and you will be OK.

**Q: Is the leather case protective from drops?**
A: It will certainly provide some protection, especially if the iPhone falls on an edge.  Of course, it won't help if the drop is from more than two or three feet.  It also makes the iPhone less slippery in your hand, so you may be less likely to drop it in the first place.

**Q: Is it authentic apple case?**
A: Yes, it matched the quality of one I had bought from Apple.

Not a bad phone case. I had a dickens of a time trying to find the navy case. I bought this used from Amazon, and there was a minor scuff on the corner - but that was to be expected. However, since it’s real leather, it buffed its way out over time. I wouldn’t say this is going to offer your phone the utmost protection when it comes to drops, but my phone has taken multiple tumbled in this thing, and no shatters yet *knocks on wood* Would recommend even buying a used case, since I believe these to be a great value for what you get. And, at the end of the day, the phone case is going to get used, so it will achieve that status once it goes onto your phone.
