We recently had to replace all of our smoke detectors before listing our house. These were inexpensive and allowed us to use our current wiring. Great product.

With this adapter it is quick and easy to replace your old outdated Firex smoke detector with a Kidde Smoke Detector, Hardwired Smoke Alarm with Battery Backup and Front-Load Battery Door. My Firex detector finally quit after 12 years, continual chirping signaling it’s demise even with a new battery. I purchased a new Kidde smoke alarm and this adapter and got up the nerve to climb a ladder up to the 16 ft high ceiling in my bedroom, took off the old device, loosened the mounting screws and removed the ceiling mounting plate and put the new mounting plate right back in it’s place, then attached the wiring adapter to the house wiring, then plugged it into the new smoke detector, pushed the wiring back up into the receptacle and twisted the new Kidde detector onto the mounting plate. Voila, major success and little aggravation! My only complaint is that I found the same adapter at a local big box store for almost half the price I paid!

Be sure you get the right adapter for your detector. I check at Home Depot because they sell it. The price online was the same as Home Depot, but with Amazon you do not leave your house.

This adapter is needed for 2008 and earlier fireX smoke detectors. It was super easy to plug into the old plug and the new detector… Though I had to muscle the wires into the space to make it fit. Depending on the size of the recess you have for your wiring, you may not have that problem.
