"Expensive" but Well Worth the Results
I say "expensive" because there are a ton of anti-dandruff products out there for way more and way less. You can go into any store and get a big bottle of something for $5. But a lot of those products have pyrithione zinc which may work for some but gives me patchy flakes within a day of use. I don't know if it's shedding the whole head before it works it magic or something but I honestly do not have the time or patience to test that out. It'd be akin to using a product that makes your face covered in acne before it starts clearing up--really?So for all I know so far, using this tea tree oil based conditioner fixes the problems within a day or two. I still have flakes but they're not patching and I can actually run through my hair without much concern. Yeah, something may fall out but that's part of life. My hair feels soft, there isn't a ton of residue or slickness left over, and you don't need a lot. I put on a bit more to start off with but ideally those with dandruff or dry scalp shouldn't be washing away their natural hair oils daily.I gladly pay the higher price for piece of mind. Others may find a different remedy works out well. This is not a flaw of a well-made product. It's not superficial to be afraid of dandruff flakes, they get everywhere and try being in public and coworkers shedding those white patches all around. Small price to pay for a pretty good boost of confidence assuming it works for you.Jack Black offers a 3 oz trial size online on their direct website. Try it out even if it costs some money for shipping (or just splurge on this and give it to someone else, it's an universal conditioner so most should be ok with it). I've bought so many other random hair care things that finally sticking to one consistent thing feels great.Update April 2025:I've been using this product on and off the last few years, most recently back on to supplement an anti-dandruff 2-in-1. That one alone caused my hair to produce excess oil and stink up so I wash using it first then with the Jack Black thickening shampoo + conditioner. I also bought the leave-in hair balm for times I don't want to double-wash. Seems to be a working setup even with longer hair that seems to flare up more than short. The manufacturer's direct website has a combo deal for the shampoo + conditioner + usable comb. Since my original review, they look to have phased out smaller trial sizes. I'm not so discerning with shampoos but I definitely take this conditioner on trips in case something triggers.

Cured my dry scalp and dandruff problem!
For years I had been using regular off the shelf stuff from the pharmacy for my hair (think Head and Shoulders). I never had any real problems other than mild dandruff occasionally but a few months ago I started to get extreme dandruff and dry scalp like I've never had before (maybe from getting older....who knows). I tried everything including visits to a dermatologist who prescribed things that didn't really work all that well and addressed the symptoms only temporarily. I have spent literally hundreds of dollars trying different shampoos and conditioners many of which were specifically designed for dry scalp and dandruff (Neutrogena T/Sal, Nizoral, every variety of H&S, etc) not to mention other products which we're not designed for dry scalp or dandruff specifically but which were recommended online for those who suffer from those problems (think Paul Mitchell Tea Tree, etc). Some of the products worked better than others and some just exacerbated the situation.I tried things in different combinations turning my head into a science experiment for 6 months! Then I turned to the whole cowash thing which as a guy you don't really hear much about when I was growing up. For those who don't know, cowashing is when you wash your hair only with conditioner. Again, I tried every conditioner you can imagine including really expensive ones. Some worked OK, while others made my problem worse. I found out from doing online research that a lot of conditioners contain conditioning agents with ingredients which the type of fungus that lives on your head and causes dandruff likes to eat and multiply on…..gross!So, to get to the point, this is the ONLY conditioner which not only didn't exacerbate my dry scalp and dandruff, but also solved my problem and left my hair in good shape. When I started using it alongside the Jack Black Double Header Shampoo my problem has completely resolved after just a few uses!Just to be clear, this is one of the more expensive conditioners out there. But it is absolutely worth the price to me. I definitely had sticker shock realizing that a regular pharmacy shelf conditioner is 75% less then this stuff, but this stuff actually works and that's what really matters! Lots of other conditioners do just as well on your hair but none have such a positive effect on your scalp too.
