Awesome task light .I like the magnetic end. It'll stick to anything steel.

This is a pretty good lamp but there is room for improvement.I bought it to use at my VB36 lathe and got the model with the magnetic base. It arrived as expected and in good condition, etc. I also installed a 27W LED lamp which is the equivalent of about a 150 watt bulb but without the heat of incandescent. The lamp is rated at 100 W but they refer to a traditional 100 W incandescent, which produces a ton of heat. So anyway, the lamp is pretty good overall but a few thougths on why the 4- stars instead of 5.Pros:The switch is mounted on the back of the housing and is large and easy to see / use.The cord is reasonably long.The magnet works pretty well in most conditionsThe arm is flexible and is 24" longCons:The arm is extremely stiff and you can't just adjust on the fly if you need to. It's a two-handed taskWhen adjusting the arm, the magnet won't hold unless you are using the aforementioned 2 handsThe housing is plastic. Perhaps some type of high-impact product, but just seems flimsy and I'd prefer metalIt's pricey for what it is.Still, it's a great workhorse lamp for my needs and if there was one with a 30+ inch arm I'd grab it. I just question its long-term durability in a workshop environment. And they are heavily targeted at that market so I just think that the build quality should be a tad better.

Not sure why people complain about the magnet. It is very strong. Likely they are attaching to thin sheet metal. I bought one 10 years ago and it’s nearly identical to the one I just bought, so not sure why some are complaining about the plastic switch mount. Mine has stood the test of time on my bandsaw for a decade and has been invaluable. It’s pricey, but a great light.

You need a bulb for it to be an LED lamp. You would also need a bulb to have any concept of lumen output. It doesn't come with a bulb, misleading title. However, it is very sturdy and the magnetic base works well on my bandsaw.

I almost didn't order this based on a previous review. Either the company (Made in USA, by the way) changed the magnetic base or the previous reviewer had a "bad" magnet. This seems unlikely. The lamp is heavy-duty: thick gauge cord, amazingly robust gooseneck and a solid feel to the switch.I put it on the cast iron base of a die filing machine and had zero movement from the magnetic base even though I really tried. The only "problem" was getting the magnet loose when I decided to place it on a different position on the machine.I've used other, very expensive, machine lights and in terms of quality and function, it's very comparable. A very fair price.

This Moffatt 95021 Task Lamp is the best gooseneck lamp I have ever worked with. The neck is very rigid and stiff, in a good way. I accidentally ordered the light with the magnetic base instead of the c-clamp base and I realized that neither my work table nor any of my lapidary machines have any magnetic metal on them, they are aluminum, resin and wood. So I was in a bit of a fix as to how to use the light for the magnetic base cannot support the light on its own. I thought about ordering the c-clamp base from Moffatt but it would have been around $30 with tax and shipping and I would have had to wait a week to get the new base. I found a much better alternative in a 10lb Olympic weight from a large sports store in town for a mere $10. The magnet I sticks very well, enough to lift the 10lb weight with no problem, and it actually looks very good as a base, almost like it was made for it. They should include a 10lb weight with the magnetic base.

If you remove the rubber mat on top of the headstock on a Powermatic 3520B lathe, this lamp with it's 100 lb (advertised, I didn't test it) this sucker is hard to remove, so I believe the 100 lbs) magnetic base stays put. And it provides lighting you can move within a wide range of positions and if you substitute a CFL for an incandescent lamp, it gives stellar light that doesn't heat up the housing, which helps when you want to adjust the position a bit. All in all, I'm very happy with this work light, even though it's a little pricey. Buy it and don't look back!

First of all the magnet is not strong enough to hold the lamp in an extended position from a sheet metal base. Could only be extended a few degrees off verticle.Second, the can or shade, looks like painted metal but is plastic and does not hold up in a shop environment with much heat.Third the switch, located on the back of the bulb did not turn off after the plastic shade warped.
