BEST GIN ALTERNATIVE
I have no idea what the other reviews are talking about. The taste is exquisite. Gin is generally my first choice/go-to spirit, and while this gin ALTERNATIVE does not taste exactly like gin (BECAUSE ITS NOT), it does have a wonderfully pleasant taste on its own. I generally mix mine with some fresh lime juice, agave syrup, and a splash of sparkling soda. It makes a FANTASTIC mocktail. I will never go back to any other nonalcoholic brand. This is my honest review, i have not been paid or given anything in exchange for this review. I purchased this (and every other spirit by ritual) out of my own pocket. Give it a try! It won’t disappoint

Cloudy, viscous, and oddly flavored
I enjoy gin for its complexity and variety. I love a good juniper-forward gin. I like my gin neat, in a dry martini, and I prefer a gin Rickey to a G&T, because I don’t want the sugar to overpower my gin. In an effort to cut down on my alcohol consumption, I explored zero proof “gin alternatives”. Most of them I did not like, and I’m sorry to say that Ritual is the one I liked least.I was a bit put off by the cloudiness and viscosity. And while I appreciate the juniper-forwardness of it, I found the pepper-as-alcohol-standin to be too clever by half. I like pepper, but I didn’t enjoy it here. I’m working my way through the bottle (nice think-glass bottle, btw) because I don’t want to east but the only way I ca stand this is with tonic and lots of lime. Lots and lots of lime.Honestly there is only one gin-alternative that I like, and I really like it. I won’t name it here, but I think what that one got right, and Ritual and the others get wrong, is that it doesn’t try to taste like gin. Only gin tastes like gin. The one that I like is gin-like in that it is a botanical distillate, only without alcohol. No hot-pepper burn, no pine or juniper, just a lot of flavor and complexity, and is perfect with club soda and a hint of lime, or even straight up with a twist and a dash of bitters.Different people like different things, so maybe you will like this. But I have to say that in trying to be too much like gin, Ritual makes a strange and not terribly enjoyable gloopy goo.

you don't have to drink alchol to enjoy a gin and tonic
It takes a bit to getting used to it. kind of a let down after the real gin.

Almost gin
It was my first purchase of this brand and found it a bit disappointing. I found it lacking in flavor that is the essence of gin...juniper. It was a treat to drink but just didn't quite capture that key note. I would probably buy it again but not my first choice.

Other products are good, but the Gin is not. Can't return item to Amazon.
I truly love what this company is doing by making zero-proof spirits, providing an alternative to alcohol. To be fair, I've tried the Ritual Rum which I'd give 4/5 stars. It mimics the smell, look, and taste of dark rum very nicely. Their tequila I'd give 3/4 stars, as it has a little "bite", looks and smells like tequila, but it is a little more watery. I bought the rum and tequila from different sources so I didn't review these two on Amazon. Now, the gin. This was the product I looked forward to most, since it's featured first on Ritual's website as award winning. Unfortunately, it fell far short in look, smell, and especially taste. Other reviews are correct in saying it has an odd taste which to me, doesn't taste like gin at all. I do not recommend the gin product at all.IMPORTANT TO KNOW: When buying directly from Ritual, they have a satisfaction guarantee on their website. I recommend buying directly through them. When you buy via Amazon, AMAZON WILL NOT LET YOU RETURN THE PRODUCT. This is not listed anywhere on the product description or ordering page. When I tried to return the gin, I fell into an infinite loop and could only resolve my issue via a chatbot. Refund is still pending.

Still on the fence about this one
I tried to go into this with an open mind. I fully expected to get Diet Rite when I was looking for a Coke. And... the experience is sort of like that, but not quite. The gin substitute doesn't have an unpleasant chemical taste or anything, but it also doesn't taste at all like your common gins. It goes a bit heavy on the floral/herbaceous notes. Some people have commented that it was too piney - frankly, it wasn't piney enough to my taste. I like a nice strong juniper flavor at the forefront, but that's just me.The mouthfeel is significantly thinner than real gin, but not as thin as water. If you were to pair this with something fizzy like tonic, I don't think you'd notice this problem so much.Do not use ice cubes - they WILL alter the consistency to be that of just plain water. Use a pre-chilled glass instead.Ice or not, this is not meant for sipping all by itself. It needs to be mixed with something. G&T isn't really my thing, so I tried some fruit juices. After the initial glass of mixed drink tasting a bit weird, I became accustomed to it, and it's really not so bad. Not great either, but I eventually did find myself enjoying the experience. It really did calm my nerves - but probably just because I was subconsciously thinking of fond old memories with the real stuff. This gin substitute works in a pinch, but I don't think I'll be making a habit of buying it. To me, it misses the mark when it comes to value for money. Perhaps at $20 or below, I would reconsider.
