A little hard to direct, VERY narrow beam of light, harsh, no room for modifiers.
Let's start with the pros:-Lightweight-Highly storable, collapsible.-Easy to useHowever there are a few cons I've found with it.Most importantly, the light is difficult to attach in a hurry. The same issues that plague the GF Diffuser attachment are applicable to this product as well... The base that slides over your flash is somewhat tight, making quick changes cumbersome at times. Also of note is that the snoot doesn't allow for modifiers as far as I'm aware. No flash gels (unless they're circular and can fit outside the end of the snoot, maybe?) no diffusion options. The snoot also directs the light into a VERY focused plane, and occasionally it is hard to guesstimate where the light is going to fall exactly. There have been times where I wanted to illuminate a subjects' body and I ended up lighting their head and a foot or two above it..Another thing to be aware of is that using this snoot, you will be shooting harsh light onto your subject. If this look isn't something you want, there are other options that will allow for softer light and still direct the beam in a tighter pattern. All said though, it's invaluable to have the option for a snoot in such a compact and portable package and if you're an event photographer with an off-camera flash and a light stand, pick one of these up and try it for yourself. Giving this a 4-star rating due to portability, price and convenience. Would be a 3 without the portability factor though for me.

Garry Fong's speed snoot take your flash photography to the next level.
The speed snoot really does focus the light and the grid narrows the beam even more. If you follows Garry's instructional YouTube videos and his paid videos at his store you will learn how and when to use the speed snoot. I own two shoots and the light sphere and they live on my three identical flashes. They store well on a padded case and pair up nicely with the Phottix Odin wireless triggers. I recently used the snoot without the grid at a restaurant to narrow the beam enough to light up a table with 10 people. Using it at the restaurant was great because I didn't have to blast everyone at the restaurant with flash. Thi is probably the best snoot on the market and its worth the price. The fact that you can't find used ones on eBay tells you people love them and wouldn't do without them. I don't know if I've seen Gary Fong show that the snoot does collapse right onto the flash. I learned that when I wanted to take just my SonyA6000 with the HVL-f60m flash in my small Kata CC193 shoulder case. I was happy to be able to captur our birthday dinner with such minimal gear. Unless you have the Sone A7RII, you should get this and use it on your flash all the time, actually, if I ever get the A7RII I'll still use this for lighting effects.

I keep it with me all the time!
I have a whole new appreciation for these. I ordered this after not getting one in a complete Gary Fong set. The light is focused on one area and I love this when it is dark outside and when it is very bright. I am able to dial my setting in and make some very cool effects. I don't always use the grid because it is very effective without it but there are some special occasions where that too adds a dimension. This helps complete a mobile studio set that is very lightweight.

this creates some super awesome photos
I bought this after buying (and LOVING) the original light sphere. In the right application, this creates some super awesome photos. My favorite shots with this snoot are when the background is dark and the subject it only slightly lit, resulting in dramatic lighting (really cool if you're taking pictures of pilots and airplanes behind them). That said, it is a little bit of a challenge using without a tri-pod in those low lighting situations, but it's easy otherwise! I use this with a Nikon SB-700 flash and Nikon D610 camera.

I really like this modifier!
I have been using pass-through umbrella for off-camera flash modifiers in my basement studio. While this softens the exposure, I found it difficult to avoid light spreading onto the background as well. Using Speed Snoot, it was to pop the subject and leave the background lit just by the ambient light, which I can control with camera shutter speed. The Speed Snoot used as is, creates somewhat sharp shadow lines, but one can soften these significantly simply by covering the snoot with thin muslin. The product is very well engineered and when collapsed, can be carried in my coat pocket.

Nice little portable option for directional lighting.
Good portable option for providing directional lighting to achieve dramatic effects. Also can use as a hair light or background effect. Probably a bit over priced for what it is, but it's a nice option to have in your bag (literally as it is very portable).

An easy way to create dramatic images.
I love it! I was apprehensive to buy it, because of the price. But I'm glad to have it now.

This one is much more easy to put on and remove from the flash
The unit itself is five star. Why I give it four? I believe it is a little over price. I got a Rogue ROGUEGRID 3-In-1 Stacking Honeycomb Grid System too. This one is much more easy to put on and remove from the flash. This one cover a little more area than the Roguegrid.

Good job…
Superb tool for flash photography. It is so good this whole concept and will transform your work. The only slight fault, which is more the flash gun I suppose, is that the filters and hoods to this system are quite heavy and flash guns I have used , unless directly upright, or pointing horizontally, they tend to drop down with the weight of the filters.

Bon produit
