Great Double Duty Wedge Pillow For Travelers
This pillow is a great value because you can use it in your home as well as when traveling. When going on a trip, fold the pillow and take it with you Initially I bought this to take on a 1 week cruise. I have reflux and need an inclined pillow. I first considered an inflatable, but could not find one that, from the reviews, I felt sure would hold air for the entire time. It is one thing to lose air when you are home and have options, quite another when on a cruise ship with very limited options. Because I had previously bought an InteVision Wedge pillow for use when visiting one of my sons, I knew the quality of their product and my satisfaction with it. I can now say that I am very pleased with this folding wedge pillow and very glad I bought it instead of an inflatable. I will be able to use this pillow with confidence for many years. When you receive the pillow, it will be compressed and in the form of a role. But when you remove the plastic and open it up, the pillow starts to expand. In a hour or so it will be full size and ready to use. The dimensions of the pillow are 7"x26¨x32¨when open,7"x26"x16" when folded. The pillow is well made and well designed. It is composed of 2 pieces of foam held together by a fitted cover made of 100% polyester, medium weight, that is zippered so that each section of foam can be removed to permit the cover to be washed. What enables the pillow to fold is the reinforcement of the cover between the pockets for the 2 sections of foam, which acts like a hinge. The pillow comes with a very nice bag to put it in when folded. The bag is designed so that it looks as though you are carrying a suitcase. Nobody would know what was in the bag from its appearance. I need a pillow more than 7 inches high, but can easily raise the high end using a rolled towel. The 2-piece design of the pillow makes this easier to do than with my solid pillow since only the higher half rises. The lower half remains unchanged. One of the benefits of this is that now I don't slide off the pillow during the night. When I raise the high end of a one-piece pillow the slope of the entire pillow increases, making it more likely that I will slide down the slope during the night. I wondered how I would like the 32" length since previous pillows I have used were not this long, but I find that I prefer it. One reason is that I no longer ever have the low edge of the pillow pressing into my lower back. It is a very comfortable pillow in use. Carrying this pillow when traveling by car should not be problem. You can carry it the car like any other luggage. With respect to air travel, if you are traveling on the larger airplanes rather than the smaller regional jets, you can put it in the overhead bin. It is certainly no larger than many of the bags now being carried on the plane. You may not want to check it in only the bag that comes with pillow, but if you have a large enough bag you can put it in it with other things. This is what I did when flying home after the cruise and it suffered no damage whatsoever. I did, however, have to carry another bag so that I would have with me the things that were removed from the larger bag to make room for the pillow. Based on my experience, I can highly recommend any of the InteVision wedge pillows, including this one. Now that I am home from the cruise, I am continuing to use this wedge pillow. I sleep on it with a pillow and am much more comfortable than I was with my previous wedge. A double-duty wedge pillow, one you can use at home as well as on your travels, is worth having if you have reflux as I do. 2 for the price of 1.

no more hip bed sores and no more sliding down! …
upon the first respiratory symptoms of als, i purchased this non-foldable InteVision wedge; InteVision Extra-Large Foam Wedge Bed Pillow (33" x 30.5" x 7.5") with High Quality, Removable Cover ... initially, it worked fine, but soon the non-memory foam portions began to compress... ...in order to increase the respiratory angle by combining wedges and reduce the compression of non-memory foam parts (in theory, as they will carry half the pressure of your upper body weight), i purchased this wedge here under review... again, like the non-foldable, the non-memory foam portions still compressed, though half the amount, and remained compressed. as such, the wedge angle decreased, while a higher or the same angle was required to sleep through the respiratory distress. the state of the als today requires a > 35° angle... as i was unable to find such a large angle, let alone a 100% memory foam wedge, it was necessary to custom make a wedge by combining these manufactured wedges, as the core of a custom wedge, with cut pieces from a king size firm memory foam mattress topper. this project was necessary to achieve and maintain the steep angle required.... and, it worked and is still working! :-) the following is the memory foam mattress topper i used to cut large pieces from, so that i was building with as much memory foam as possible; Best Price Mattress 2.5" Ventilated Memory Foam Mattress Topper, King the ventilation is key with this mattress, as well as it is thicker and firmer than most and quite reasonably priced. | note: custom bed wedges are a very individualized art to get the right angle and comfort. as such, what works for one does not mean it will work for another. my intention is to share my individual experience and recommendations. | still, either InteVision are decent, if they have all the angle you require… and, you can live with the compressed non-memory foam portions. but, if you need to continue increasing your angle, i recommend both wedges, in addition to a supply of memory foam (in the form of the mattress topper) to cut large pieces from to build up yourself a custom wedge, using these two (2) InteVision wedges as the core... it takes some time to get it right, but it works! :-) the following are some matters to consider, from my experience; • all foams, with the exception of memory foam, will eventually compress and remain compressed. • remove covers off your wedges so you have raw foam to work with... • attach foams (InteVision wedges and the large pieces from the king mattress topper) together, using a flexible, adhesive caulk and holding with kinesiology tape aka KT or a tape that has great lengthwise elasticity. the KT can be left on, as you can not feel it, since it so flexible and breathable… and, it sticks very well to foam. • note that the higher the angle is in direct proportion to decreasing comfort, as well as increasing sliding down and losing that angle you need to breathe or resolve other issues requiring a high angle bed wedge, once you have slid down. • to combat the sliding issue, i cut a hole (about 7" x 12") in the top layer of the memory foam where my hips/bottom are located. this created a break or stopping block and was very effective in preventing sliding down; it has worked splendidly! :-) ... and, the "happy accident" bonus is no more hip bed sores thanks to the pressure is now distributed around the hip & bottom with very little hard pressure on the hip (as a side sleeper - which is a must for most folks with respiratory distress)... the hole just nicely cups the hip/buttocks, like a gentle, comfy hip hammock, and it feels wonderful, as well as functional (to prevent sliding). …and, the 2nd additional bonus is that this measure also increased my sleep angle by ~3" (from butt to hip), with my hips/buttocks down lower. overall, the top layer hole is a very functional and comfortable feature. :-) ☑ bottom line on this measure; better breathing due to increased respiratory angle, no more sliding down the wedge, and elimination of hip bed sores! 👍 lastly, should you require some more details or assistance in customizing a high angle respiratory wedge system, feel free to comment here and i will provide details and pics. as a former (pre-als) design engineer with 2+ years of deteriorating respiratory distress from als, i may be able to help. i am now sleeping sound on a custom respiratory wedge system that has a high angle, is relatively comfortable, and sliding down is history. ok, thanks for listening and best wishes to you in achieving a good nights rest! deke :-)

A nicely made product that is definitely better than adequate for the task
SUPER NICE! I am VERY pleased with this well made pillow. It is the perfect thickness, very comfortable, and so VERY easy to fold and pack up for travel. I also purchased the matching pillow case and highly recommend the combination. Update 11/29/2016: This is a review of the InteVision Folding Wedge Bed Pillow. I recently purchased this pillow from Amazon and used it during a Carnival cruise. I am elderly and disabled by Parkinson’s. I needed the pillow to raise my head and upper body to ease breathing during sleep. I have never had a pillow like this before and I was not sure this would serve my needs. I was pleasantly surprised that it worked even better than I had hoped. You will still probably need to add a standard pillow under your head. But you should not find yourself sliding down the wedge during the night. The foam interior has a well balanced degree of firmness to be very comfortable. The top layer called “Memory Foam” is a bit softer than the rest of the foam. The cover is zippered and removable for washing. I have seen some reviews indicate that it will not fold with the cover zipped but I had no trouble. I believe the reviewers must have failed to install it correctly. Installing the cover can be a bit puzzling. In photos above you can see the pillow folded with the cover zipped. The pillow comes with a cover that is reasonably adequate for sleep. But it is best to have a separate pillow case that can be more easily washed. As you can imagine, no normal pillow case will work. Amazon stocks high quality covers made specifically for this pillow. InteVision 400 Thread Count, 100% Egyptian Cotton Pillowcase. Designed to Fit the InteVision Folding Wedge Bed Pillow (32" x 25" x 7") They are available in either white or blue. I purchased the white case and am very pleased with it. Unlike the cover, the case will not fit with the pillow folded. But the case is easy to remove, fold, and insert into the Travel Case with the pillow. The Travel Case is included with the pillow. While it is not the highest quality possible, it is certainly more than adequate to do the job. But it is not built to be abused—which we all know can easily happen when traveling. Under normal circumstances it should stand up to reasonable handling. The pillow folds nicely to fit perfectly into its included travel case. When packed it is about the size of a normal suitcase except that it is extremely lightweight. Upon arrival at the cruise port and upon return, it was handled as normal checked baggage with absolutely no sign of damage or wear. If you prefer to keep it with you, that is quite easy as this will be the lightest luggage you have ever carried. My first impressions upon receipt of the pillow from Amazon was a bit of amusement. It arrives squeezed tightly into a box that appears too small. When you open the box, the pillow is tightly rolled not unlike a sleeping bag at the rear of a saddle. As you unpack it, you must be extremely careful as you cut the clear plastic sheets so as not to cut the pillow itself. I personally found a VERY carefully handled knife easier to use than scissors. As more and more plastic is cut away, the pillow will groan as it attempts to free itself. As the last plastic is released, you may experience multiple loud and startling pops. Over the next hour or so, the pillow will slowly grow in size and gradually approach its final shape. But it may be 24-48 hours or so before it is fully formed. Have patience! Once the pillow is ready, it will definitely be worth the wait. Enjoy! This review is totally unsolicited and personally created by me. I have no connections with, nor have I been compensated in any way, by Amazon or others providing the pillow. I purchased it personally at full price. Be sure to check out the video review I also submitted.

OK - But Smelly!
I need to be raised when lying down and tried this pillow. The 32" length was more than I needed, as I find that my head is about 7" from the top of the wedge. The pillow works well and has pretty good support. I really appreciate the split in the middle that allows the pillow to be folded in half and put in the carry bag (provided). However, it took two weeks of airing in the laundry room and then another two weeks outside day and night of airing to get the very strong chemical smell to be tolerable. After several months of use, the smell is now gone. I also bought the pillow case (sold separately) and it is somewhat larger than the pillow, but washes and dries well and is easy to put back on the pillow. If I were to get another wedge pillow, I believe the 27" length pillow would fit me better (I am 5'6"). I would also try another brand and hope that the chemical smell wouldn't be so strong!

This pillow cured my sleep apnea
I have suffered from sleep apnea for years according to my wife and only recently went through the sleep tests for confirmation. I was averaging 13.5 episodes per hour. I was issued a CPAP machine and hated it. First 3 nights I only wore it for one hour. After that I totally quit. Wife started researching and found this pillow. What the hell, I'd give it a try. First thing I noticed was quality. it is well made and seemed to be large enough for me. I'm a wide shouldered man and it is plenty big and comfortable for me. 1st morning after I asked if I snored and she said no. 2nd night, no and so on and so on. I've used it for months now and I'm here to tell you this pillow cured my sleep apnea. It's amazing. Although very comfortable it took me a couple weeks to adjust with my head slightly raised. Honestly now, I probably can't sleep without it. When we travel, I take it with me. I have way more energy now and a very happy wife. If you suffer, you have nothing to lose by trying this pillow.

Helps with shoulder pain for side sleeper.
Like the easy to use carrying case & memory foam, very nice! Helps with taking pressure off of my shoulders at night, I place it up to just below my shoulder & put my pillow just above my shoulder. This leaves a slot that my shoulder & arm are in, with less shoulder pressure. Tried some shorter ones, unfortunately they just moved the pain around. This is also wide enough to actually sleep on and not feel like you are going to fall off of it. This is long enough to keep your back & hips aligned, works well! Was thinking I would need less height, turns out I may need more, easy enough to add a foam layer to this one. Come with zip travel case & zip up cover. Nice pillow that is cost effective!

Good for vacation, maybe not shorter business travel
I have sleep apnea and was going on vacation, so I wanted something near equivalent to the InteVision Foam Wedge Bed Pillow (26" x 25" x 7.5") I was using at home, which I really like and use every night. This is similar quality and did just fine. The hinge does not affect the functionality. This one is 32" from point to the top of the incline vs 24" for the one I use at home. It is also a 7" height vs 7.5" on my home model. I prefer the home version, but this is nearly as good. I wish it were a bit smaller to accommodate airplane travel, but the hinge make it feasible to take on the plane vs the home version, which is not. For a week-long vacation it was worth the hassle to take it. For shorter business trips, I may investigate an inflatable version. On the outbound part of the trip, it was still in its original packaging, which was the typical compressed version of memory foam and hence if fit easily in my wife's giant suitcase. On the way back, in its expanded state, it was the same size of the outer dimensions of the suitcase and so we unzipped the expandable part of the suitcase and put it inside. It took up a lot of room, but it does squish down. No way it would fit in a typical roller bag or even my over sized garment style suitcase. I did not have to use the included travel case on this trip, but it does seem to be pretty big to fit into overhead storage. I think it is just over what the airline limits are, but this will squish down, unlike a suitcase in overheard. I am surprised the manufacturer did not research the travel case size vs overhead baggage limits. This would be effective in bed at a modestly smaller size, so why not make it to fit overhead. It could go in checked baggage, but at $25 a bag that is not a cost effective option. We drive to southern California quite a bit so see our daughter and this will work great for car trips.

I love it so much
I love it so much. I wanted to order another one but they do not ship to Canada anymore. I have tried everything and looked everywhere and this is the only wedge that gives true back relief for a good sleep. And I can travel with it! Please ship to Canada again!!! I have lots of Canadians waiting to buy one.

Muy cómoda
Justo lo que buscaba. Muy cómoda y a la altura justa; no muy alta, y no muy baja. No me resbalo durante la noche y debido a que no es rígida, puedo también dormir de lado sin problema. Muy recomendable!
