Spigen Slim Armor View Designed for Samsung Galaxy S5 Case (2014) - View Smooth White

The case itself is great. Feels sturdy and is lightweight and not bulky at all. However, app that you need for the screen to work is useless. The icons (phone, text, etc) don't function in any way and often the screen is slow to pop up when the cover is closed if it even shows up at all. The view screen pops up sometimes when the cover isn't closed. I gave the app for this case a 1 star, but since this is for the case itself it gets 5 because the case is great...that being said I dropped my phone at some point soon after putting the case on and the camera glass shattered completely, I'm thinking unfortunate coincidence... I got the replacement part from amazon a few days later. I like this case.

I had this same case for my S4 and loved it. Everything worked the way it should. With the slim armor view case for the Galaxy S5, now that's a different story. I promptly received the case for my S5, opened it up and it had a similar build quality to the one I had on my S4.....great. I put the case on the phone, flip it closed and no s-view features (unlike the S4 version)....hmmmmm. I found instructions in the packaging informing me that I had to download the "Spigen Smart View Plus" app, from the Google marketplace, in order to use the s-view features. Okay,no big deal......But it was a big deal. The app they tell me to download, is no longer available in the Google marketplace, or from any trusted source (IE Amazon). There is a third party app with a similar name, but it runs adware across the bottom of the screen. I'm not willing to run an adware app on my phone to support the features of a case that I paid a premium price for. Ultimately, I'm very disappointed and feeling misled. Pure speculation leads me to believe that Samsung cracked down on companies using their patents, in order to use certain features built into their software. The complete lack of software support makes this case worthless IMO. The 2 stars is for build quality. The product execution gets 0 stars. Spigen, please address the situation or remove this product from shelves. I am a big fan of your cases.......I mean 'was'.

Case Purchased January 2014First, Spigen IS one of the better case makers available for this phone without sacrificing style or adding a lot of bulk. Yes, the case does make the phone a bit thicker/heavier. However, it's not too noticeable, and I have hands that are thin, weak, and unsteady. This case provides extremely good protection with a rubber casing ("TPU") completely surrounding the phone but under a polycarbonate hard shell that covers the mid section of the back and is the front cover's material. the TPU has a lip that is raised enough to protect the screen from coming in contact with surfaces when you lay the screen down flat. It doesn't seem like much but it is very effective protection. My phone has been dropped more times than I can count, landing face up and down, and the case and phone inside both still look great. Customer service is directly available at Spigen.com. When I needed a broken front cover replaced under warranty, they were extremely polite, helpful, and did not try to charge me for the door or shipping. Although I did have to provide photos of the damage, but that's fairly common for warranty claims with online retailers.The Flaws --HINGE ASSEMBLYAside from wanting more color choices, I was initially exceedingly pleased with this case. That is until the front cover hinge broke. The hinge assembly is all polycarbonate and made to be flexible enough to fold flat against the back. Unfortunately, the designers miscalculated the front window height when the front is folded back so it slightly obscures the rear camera.You may be tempted to push the door up to correct this but Don't. Doing so Will stress the hinge and could cause it to break. Usually, I just let mine hang loose while I shoot horizontally or I'll hold the phone firmly on its right side when shooting in portrait. Supposedly the door is made to come off but to do so safely I STRONGLY recommend taking the phone completely out of the case so as not to stress the hinge. But even taking these precautions, know that if you're frequently folding the door back that hinge Will break. Mine has broken twice now and each time it's been a different piece of the hinge. Again, this seems to be a design flaw. I say this due to the way the hinge assembly is made to fit together.There is a very tiny nub on the front cover's hinge that fits into an equally shallow groove on the case's rear. This seems to be done to allow it the door to swing freely or be folded back flat. But again, this stresses the hinge and can cause the cracks and/or breakage.SLEEP/WAKE FEATURE:This will be brief, but pointed. Basically, if this is a must you will be disappointed. This feature was very useful and pretty cool -- when it worked. Initially, it worked great but after a couple months it became sporadic and I found myself having to take my phone out and replace it in the case or press against the rear to get it to activate. Yep, you guessed it, that didn't work for too long and eventually, the feature just quit all together.HOME BUTTON ON COVERThis is the least of the issues but bears mention. If you have the phone in a purse, gentleman's case, book bag, etc. know that if anything presses against that cover/button your phone will activate and your battery will start to drain. I'm just saying...(shrugging).In Conclusion --Do I recommend this case?? NOPE! I recommend Spigen's "SLIM ARMOR" or "NEO HYBRID" cases in conjunction with one of their Glass Screen Protectors. That way you get the protection without the issues. I really do like the rugged protection of the "Slim Armor View" and I still use mine: Just WITHOUT The Door Attached (which is why I recommend just getting one of their other cases). AND... I have Spigen's Glas t.R Glass Screen Protector installed over my screen for an added measure of security. Using the Glas t.R with any case just makes sense (but that's another review). Wordy review? Probably. Helpful...? You tell me. ;-D

Anfangs war ich mir unsicher aufgrund des hohen Preises! Doch ich bereue meine Entscheidung absolut nicht! Nicht nur das die optik des Cases absolut ansprechend ist, ist das Handy rund um super abgesichert! Einen Stern abzug gibt es dennoch, wie auch schon in anderen Rezensionen zu lesen ist geht der Dechel sehr leich ab, das mag am anfang noch gehen doch die Frage ist ob es auch dem Dauertest übersteht, hier muss noch deutlich nachgebessert weren! Dennoch würde ich es jederzeit wieder kaufen!Ergänzung: Mir ist mein Handy aus voller Körperhöhe aus der Brusttasche direkt auf die Front geflogen, ich dachte mir schon nu isses vorbei jetzt hab ich ne Spiderapp. aber nichts nicht mal einen Kratzer!!! Die Hülle hat sich schon rentiert wenn man überlegt wieviel es kostet einen Displayschaden zu reparieren! Die Energieweiterleitung auf die Ränder funktioniert Super, hätte ich nicht gedacht da das Cover ja doch ein bisschen instabil wirkt. Aber nu im unfreiwilligen Selbsttest muss ich sagen das ich begeistert bin und froh das Geld ausgegeben zu haben!

I love this case, looks great and can take a beating, I can't even count how many times I've dropped my phone so far with no ill effects.

Dieses Case ist Super. Wenn das Case herunterfällt, dann kann es auch kaputt gehen. Habe selbst die Erfahrung gemacht und gebe es auch zu, nicht wie meine Vorbewerter. Besser das Case kaputt als das Smartphone.Momentan für 9,95 Euro, Hammer!Immer wieder!

La coque de protection pour mon Galaxy S5 donne une protection efficace du produit et de plus est très élégante. Un petit bémol pour l'ouverture du couvercle qui nécessite deux mains et des ongles long. Le couvercle amovible c'est bien sauf quand il se détache intempestivement et tombe bettement dans la boue ...
