Love it, instructions missing details.
Reading some of the reviews, it appears many people either did not fully understand the directions and there are some missing helpful steps in instructions. The two key things that must be performed prior to installation. 1. The mirror arm assembly MUST be lubricated before installation. 2. If the mirror is NOT being mounted to a cement or cinderblock wall DO NOT USE THE PLASTIC ANCHORS THAT COME THIS THE MIRROR. FOR DRYWALL INSTALLAYION USE MOLLY OR BUTTERFLY (TOGGLE BOLTS) anchors. It is best to install the mounting bracket on a wall stud then use the metal screws that came with the mirror.1 Expand the scissor arm which will be very stiff. Place a drop of 3-1 oil at each pivot point and on the glide bars (where the white plastic slides rest) Then open and close the siccsor and close the arm to work in the oil until smoth easy operation.2 When mounting the mirror, the center of the mirror glass should be the same height as the bottom of the nose of the person who will be using it. Make a small mark on the wall at that height. The top hole for the mounting bracket will be 5 ½ inches below that mark. Remove the mirror assembly from the mounting bracket.3a Drywall Installation - Install the top anchor and attach the mounting bracket to the wall. With the mounting bracket attached straight up and down, make a mark on the wall through the remaining holes on the mounting bracket then remove the bracket. Install the remaining anchors and then firmly attach the mounting bracket. Attach the mirror assembly.3b Wall Stud Installation (best) Insert the screw through the top hole in the mounting bracket and drive the screw into the stud on the lower mark one the wall. Holding the mounting bracket straight up and down, install the screws in the remaining. Attach the mirror assembly.

Great buy & great value. My wife LOVES it!
Great buy, great value. And just what my wife wanted and needed. She described to me the type of mirror she was wanting to get for our master bathroom, and asked me to try and find her one on Amazon. My search quickly led me to this one, especially because of its very high percentage of 5-star reviews (90% as of this writing).I'm happy to report that all those rave reviews were spot on. This is a VERY well made extension mirror. It's quite substantial (as in hefty), it's solid, and it's very strong in every respect. If treated properly, it should last an exceedingly long time.It has a stylish, retro design, and absolutely looks great with its matte brushed nickel finish. It'll bring a touch of class to your bathroom or wherever you mount it.Speaking of which, it was a breeze to mount on our bathroom wall. Just make sure you first find a stud in the wall to drive the included screws into. This is important, because the mirror will definitely need the stud's support. Here are my wife's thoughts about the extension mirror:"Sheesh, I feel so silly. Why didn't I get one of these years ago? All the years of stretching and bending over the sink to look closely at my face, to put make-up on, or to pluck my eyebrows--when I could have saved myself A LOT of trouble by using a handy mirror like this one!""Well, better late than never. This DecoBros extension mirror is just what I needed. Now it is so much easier--and more enjoyable--to do my daily facial routines.""I love that the mirror is 2-sided, with one side being normal magnification and the other being 7x magnification. So no more using reading glasses to put on my make-up! LOL I can so easily see what I'm doing. In fact, you can see your whole face. And the fact that it adjusts back and forth so conveniently like an accordion is fantastic.""I really do love this mirror. It'd make a great gift, especially for someone who regularly hunches over the sink as I had been doing for so long. Give your back a big break and try out one of these extension mirrors! I promise you'll be glad you did!"Finally, our goal as reviewers is always to try and help others make better informed decisions about potential Amazon products they may be considering. Toward that end, I hope in some small way that you may have found this review helpful. Thanks for reading it, and best of luck with your shopping!

Well built, looks good, decent price mirror
This is a well built product. The rotating and sliding sections have a plastic inserts for smooth, quite, non-abrasive movement compared to metal on metal. The nickel finish looks nice and avoids the sometimes gaudy appearance of a chrome finish. Being able to switch from 1 to 1 flat mirror side to the 7X magnification side is the reason I purchased this mirror and it works well. I didn't give the product 5 stars because that implies that everything is wonderful. Mounting ANY of this type of mirror will be a challenge for some people. Mounting this mirror requires removing the mounting plate (just two thumb nuts) and attaching it to the wall. The suggested method involves drilling three holes in the wall. It appears the wall is assumed to be sheet rock as the unit comes with three expanding plastic inserts to place in the holes you have to drill using the mounting plate as a template. You then place the mounting plate against the inserts, insert the screws and drive them home. You then slid the mirror base plate back on to the two studs sticking out of the mounting plate, tighten the two thumb nuts, and you are done. If you are at all DIY handy and have the tools, no problem! I did think the scissor action of the extension mechanism, at least when new, required a substantial pull. On a weak drywall that could be an issue and I wondered if finding a stud in the wall to install the screws would a preferable, sturdier approach. Which, of course, it would be and I did that aided by the stud finder I just happen to own. But if you have decent drywall, the plastic insert approach should be sound. As an aside, I found that mounting the unit upside down provided greater clearance around my sink when in use. When not in use, the collapsed scissor section makes a nice compact feature on the wall. Much neater than mirrors with fixed length arms. By upside down, I mean mounting it so that the mirror flipping arms are on the bottom and at the height you need.

Great mirror for hair and all the etc.
i owned one of these mirrors for about 9 years and loved it but a move necessitated it being replaced. The present day mirror is a little larger than my previously owned one but also a little more solid and sturdy.
