The unit I just received did not come with the black pole that attaches to the stand. Is it included with this item?

Mine also came with no shaft. Only the base was included in the package. I've contacted the seller as both the pictures of the product and the product description indicate that the full stand, not just the base, is included in the order.

can you attach a shock mount to this mic stand?

yes, this should be compatible with most shock mounts.

What is the thread size for the mic attachment point?

I'm not sure of the exact size, but the threads are the standard size that accept a common microphone holder such as from Shure.
