Three highly successful Italian filmmakers
Three very enjoyable westerns. Films that can be watched multiple times. Two Sergios, Corbuccu and Sollima, are worth mentioning in the same breath as Leone. And future horror meister Lucio Fulci shows again he can work outside genre conventions.Companeros pairs fan favourites Franco Nero and Tomas Milian. It’s a nice companion piece to The Mercenary, which benefits, again, from a landmark score by Ennio Morricone.Run, Man, Run has not be the easiest film to fin. It feels somewhat flabby with its two hour running time. It also appears churned out by another western of similar length - Tepepa. Which seems a riff on the wonderfully realized A Bullet For The General. Run, Man, Run had two previous Sollima masterpieces to follow - The Big Gundown and Face To Face.Watch this third western for the ferociously exotically stunning Cuban born actress Chelo Alonso.Fulci whose Don’t Torture A Ducking blew up the norms of giallo film making does the same with Four Of The Apocalypse. Tomas Malian’s character has an ugliness and brutality that is off putting. However, if you stay with it, the conclusion makes sense, and satisfies. All in all an outstanding collection of non Clint Eastwood/Sergio Leone westerns.

Fantastic triple feature from Blue Underground
Fantastic triple feature from Blue Underground. Companeros is a spaghetti western masterpiece! It's up there with The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and other spaghetti classics. Milian and Nero give tremendous performances and there's an outstanding soundtrack by Ennio Morricone. The set is worth buying for that film alone. I didn't finish watching Four of the Apocalypse. I found it mediocre but it'll certainly be of interest to many Fulci fans. I'll definitely give it second chance. Run, Man, Run is another great one. The picture quality is perfect on all three films. There's many cheap spaghetti western packs but most of them contain some dreadful transfers. If you're a fan of spaghetti westerns, there's no reason why you should not buy this set!

Blue underground boo boo
3 absolute classics but be warned. RUN MAN RUN and FOUR OF THE APOCALYPSE are region 0 but COMPANEROS is region 1 and wouldn't play. Excellent extras particularly on RUN MAN RUN.

Italian Westerns
Run, Man, Run, was the best of the three in my opinion; the worst being Four of the Apocalypse. All were worth watching though.
