Quality has value on the ocean!
I am a long distance ocean kayaker. My needs for a deck bag were to have easy access to a Go-Pro camera with hand held float, snacks, water bottle, VHF radio and a small pelican box with keys/cell phone/wallet/backup batteries. I also needed a 'bug out' bag that I can grab fast if the boat is going down. Here is why I strongly endorse this product: 1. Large enough to hold all gear listed, plus an additional liter of water, rain jacket first aid kit, fire starter and food for 24 hrs. 2. Profile does not impede sight lines to deck compass. 3. Workmanship is excellent. I have soaked this bag in the sea, stripped out the liner and washed/bleached/rinsed/dried it over a dozen times. No seams are fraying, no zippers binding, it looks great. Many products built for either the ocean or the mountains appear overpriced at first glance. When you actually use them, and beat them senseless, that's when you understand why some cost triple what others charge. Items that Chinook may consider: Make the bungees on the deck clips adjustable in length. I end up winding the bungees around my deck rigging to get them tight. Put something on the bottom to prevent the bag from sliding across the deck. Update: I continue to use and abuse this bag regularly; it refuses to wear down at all. I've found the right and left exterior compartments to be excellent places for a bilge pump and rolled up paddle float. Two less items under bungees behind me where I can't see them.

Love this deck bag
I cannot say enough good things about this deck bag. It is roomy, easy to install, has plenty of hook points to to hang gear, looks great. I read some reviews about the stiffener board being hard to install or breaking. I did not have any issues installing the stiffener. My cat even sat on the bag and it held up to her weight. She bent it but I just popped it back in place and it was good to go. I haven't flipped my kayak since I stalled it but it seems relatively water proof. None of my gear has gotten wet so far. I highly recommend this bag. I have one installed on my wife's Wilderness Systems Tsunami 120 and one installed on my Tsunami 145.

Don't kayak without one!
A must have for your kayak! It keeps everything handy, dry, secure and at arms reach. This size will hold more than you would expect, evenly distributes the weight and is helpful for long day trips. If you need to be in over-packers anonymous like me and you like to pack your food, beverages (I'm talking water and a six pack+), sunscreen, hand sanitizer, the kitchen sink, etc. and a place to tuck away your shoes while out on the water, this is the bag for you. Highly recommend!

I like the side and top storage
I like the side and top storage. The inner plastic liner along the top kept folding in and down, so I added 3 fiberglass slats (thick 2" wide venetian slats) for extra support and I couldn't be happier. Don't count on it being 100% waterproof, however keep it zipped and things stay dry enough, as long as you stay upright. Coat the zipper with soap or parrifin wax and it opperates much easier. I love it for, maps, snacks, water, binocs, camera, and stuff I need for the day. This is the only deck bag I've had, so I don't know what to compare it to, but I'm satisfied with it and am not looking to replace it. It's been on a couple week long paddle trips and several day trips. The deck bag fit nicely on my Perception Sea Lion.

Perfect deck bag!
Great bag! Just used it on a 190 mile trip and it worked perfectly. I carry a one liter bottle on each side, which is what I drink for the day. Lunch, paddle float, rescue stirrup, sun screen, snacks, etc., etc. all fit in the main compartment. Map holder attaches to the top for handy use. I keep the strap under the bag until I need to carry to camp. Buying another for my wife.

Top Quality Good Looking Techincal Pack
I use this under the poling platform on my Gheenoe. Perfect fit. Despite what a few reviewers say, this is all quality. Yes, one bungi cord end pulled off but I was able to put it back on by sliding the collar back inserting the cord and pushing the collar back on. I really did stress it so that was my fault. The bungis are the same components sold to make your own. Easy fix. Definetly one of my favorite accessories.

This bag is nice out of the rapper
Yeah 2 stars at most... This bag is nice out of the rapper, but the zipper is cheap junk!!!! I got this bag 3 months before I actually tried to use it. -_- I got it for a kayak that I pre ordered... My plan was to by the gear slowly while I wait to get my yak. So about 3 months after I finally got my kayak, I rigged it up with this bag and the other gear I had purchased. Only to find out that one of the main zippers wouldn't zip the teeth properly. It comes with two zippers for the seem but I can all ready tell that it wont be long before that zipper fails also. I love the bag but the zipper is junk. It just feels cheep. I'll probably have to put a new zipper on it my self in a few months when this one fails. I gave the bag to my wife so she can have it for her SUP and I'm going to get something more bullet proof for my sea kayak.

Good product. Put wax or siilcone on the zippers if you will be using the pack near salt water.
Sturdy and functional. I have used the deck bag on well over a hundred kayak trips. The zipper started to become less functional, but that is likely from lots of salt water exposure. I should have put silicone or wax on the zipper when I first started using the bag. I understand lip balm wax is also good for zippers. I will buy another when this one wears out completely, but i did get my money's worth from the one I purchased.
