No Issues
I've been using this for about 3 years now (guessing) and have had no issues. I remember it was kind of a pain to get set up and registered, but after that, no problems. You're limited on how many phones you could hook up to it due to power limitations so I purchased a base phone with extensions. Now I have about a half a dozen phones working great.

The BEST IDEA IF YOU WANT A LAND LINE WITH INTETNET CLARITY!
I am a 28 year veteran of magic jack phone. The best investment. Yearly under $40 for solid landline thru internet. Wherever you go, your number follows you. Or you can change it. Even a CUSTOM number. Canada & Puerto Rico - no extra charge. All of America - no extra charge. And when I bought this upgraded module, I got a year of service included with my purchase. Like $8 for the new unit. 15 minutes to upgrade. I LOVE THIS PRODUCT. All so must do now is buy a new longer outside line for the home we're in now. Connect direct to my internet line thru Direct TV and get an EVEN CLEARER SIGNAL. So I may spend $14 more to make UT 100% by buying a 4 wire line 50 feet long. How is that for a kicking revue? Love mine. Plus! An app to forward to your cell while you're not home. Bingo!

works as expected.
Audio is a little staticy and has poor low frequency tone compared to a regular land line. The tone has more treble than bass which sounds unnatural and takes getting used to. I purchased 5 additional years (6 total) for under $3 a month compared to $35 for a land line. It does need to use the PC app for setup and it can be used with the PC app on a PC headset or with a regular phone connected and a USB-A charger. I also transferred my old land line number for another $20. The 911 fee is another $11/year.

Still a great option for low cost
I had to replace one after about 3 years. First bought MJ Plus in 2017. In 2019, the phone lines were getting a lot of static so I replaced our 10 yr old cordless Panasonic phones with new ones. Didn't help. Searched internet and learned it might be MJ as it may have taken a hit with our continuous lightning storms. As soon as I did, the line was crystal clear again. I put the second one on a surge protector. MJ worked excellent on our FiOS. Never any problems. All calls were crystal clear, no lags and callers said the same on other end.A year or so later, the MJ app was rolled out so I could make/take calls and texts on my iPad! Super convenient. Can also call into the voice mail with the app to pick up messages. If power goes out or if I disconnect my MJ or my phone, then calls will be recorded as a .wav file and emailed to me. Another handy feature. Call forwarding is included with MJ which came in handy when we were without internet as calls could be forwarded to my husband's cell phone. Connecting with iPad contacts is optional. Once I did that, I could block callers and names would show up in the MJ app's call menu for ingoing, outgoing and missed calls. I can search to place a call to someone in my contacts right from the MJ app. I can turn on ipads DoNotDisturb feature and calls will go straight to voicemail without ringing. However we moved to rural America in 2022 and stuck now with sucky internet. Only option here is microwave tower, cellular and satellite. We've tried them all. Cellular hot spot with booster antenna gives us the most stable internet but we have a lot of packet loss during daytime (10-40%) which means MJ isn't working well between 9:30 am and 4:30 pm.Still it's better than no home phone. Works just fine on weekends, early mornings, evenings and sometimes during day.I did try OOMA here but the internet is so bad I couldn't even get Ooma software updates to load on the telo after leaving connected for 18 hours. I was hoping maybe Ooma device might be more robust since it's four times the size of MJ. But in the end could never get Ooma to work.I contacted MJ support when first installing and when porting and when setting up the second MJ. Support was helpful enough each time.My husband and I switched to needing a hearing impaired phone (with on screen captions) last year. We just can't hear conversations well on cell phones and traditional phones any more. For residential home phone service, I am quite satisfied and I can't beat the price. It's not the fault of MJ that this internet is too slow. If you have decent broadband and no packet loss it works great.

W A R N I N G - - YOU COULD LOSE YOUR PHONE NO .
W A R N I N G - - - Magicjack is NOT able to transfer (port) all phone numbers from your carrier to Magicjack but they won't tell, you that in time to keep your phone number. We had the same phone number for 34 years and lost it while waiting for Magicjack to transfer the number. B E A D V I S E D ..... after it happens ... it too late to get your phone number back. Do not .. Repeat .. do NOT believe any of their customer service representatives. They have to maintain a "LRN" (Location Routing Number) in your area in order to transfer (port) your phone number from your carrier to Magicjack. What they won't tell you is that they have cancelled MANY "LRN's" across the country making it impossible to transfer your phone number. They won't tell you that when you are trying to install the device. If your old phone number hasn't been transferred to Magicjack within 1 week then it's not going to happen. You need to contact your previous carrier immediately to TRY to get your old number back before it is reassigned to someone else. Magicjack will NOT explain any of the to you. YOIU HAVE BEEN WARNED - - PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Did the job
Received the device the next day with Prime. Attached to a laptop for activation on magic jack.com, registered the device, got a phone number assigned and proceeded to set it up for porting my number for $19.99. I already have a phone. It took a approximately 20 minutes to set up before it worked. The next day Magic Jack notified me Verizon refuse to port the old phone number. I guess I'll keep the new one from Magic Jack because I need a landline and I don't want to keep Verizon $40.00 per month to keep the old one. Out with the waste of money just for a phone number; in with the new economical, budget friendly device.
