This thing is unstoppable! I purchased it in 2017 and have used it nearly every day (it's now 2026.) It has survived moves from Hawaii to Florida to Virginia, three kids, and some kitchen messes that would have destroyed lesser appliances. It is fairly sleek looking however, we keep it in the front of a cabinet and pull it out by the handle on top only when we need to use it. When putting it away we wrap the cord around it and shove it back in time-out to await the next can opening adventure. We are not very kind to this can opener but even after all these years it looks nearly new. We have had a few manual can openers (including a nice Swing-A-Way) for power outages, and they have broken, rusted, or gummed up to the point we had to throw them away... even with the limited usage they see. And yet, this one keeps on trucking. The can opening mechanism works flawlessly every time. It cuts the can around the outside leaving a smooth, dull surface that isn't capable of hurting anyone (or slicing through a trash bag.) The operation couldn't be easier - tilt the top of the can against the gear - rock the bottom of the can toward the body of the opener - press down gently on the oversized handle at the top - and presto! it activates and rotates the can open. While it is spinning the can it holds it quite well (there's even a little "lock" that shows up to inform you it's safe to let go of the can) and doesn't release until you pull up on the handle. I believe this can opener would be an excellent choice for most elderly, disabled, or mobility restricted people. I have nothing negative to say about this can opener. If it ever fails I will be looking for this exact same model to replace it. Well worth the money - and then some!

This is the best can opener I have ever owned. The size is nice, it holds the cans in place, it's tells you when the can as completed opening, it will give off a high pitched sound. There is no sharpness around the lid as you remove, it's very smooth and it comes off the can easily. I like the design, style, and color. It's very durable, the price is right. Now if you could make a hand can opener that is just as easy to open like this one for people that have arthritis, and when the power goes out and you have no electricity. The can opener is very hard to turn. Maybe battery operated and a touch of a button to get it started. (Just a suggestion) Overall this can opener is great. The price is right, I would highly recommend this can opener. Thanks

Update 12-23-25: Well, it's been over two years since I purchased my Kitchen Mama can opener. I'm still using it almost every day and it works as well today as the day I first opened the box. I love this thing. It has helped make it easier to continue making healthy home cooked meals for my husband and I and I am very grateful to Kitchen Mama for helping make that happen. Every senior out there should have one of these. Edit 9-22-23: I have had this can opener for almost 3 months now and have used it almost every day. It is still working perfectly. I had to come back and add a comment. I see some reviews saying they the can opener leaves sharp edges. I have NEVER had a sharp edge left by this opener. I just set the opener on top of the can, press the button, and the can opener does the rest. Original review: Let me start by saying I PROMISE to come back and edit this review if ANY problems develop with this can opener in the next year. I am in my late 70s, in a wheelchair, and dealing with several different forms of painful arthritis. I still cook for myself and my husband and try to do as much "from scratch" as I can. That means I open cans on a pretty regular basis. My new Kitchen Mama electric can opener arrived today. I think the next sentence says a LOT. I opened the box, removed the can opener, cleaned it with a food safe disinfecting wipe, installed 4 AA batteries, set a standard size can of chick peas on the counter, set the can opener down on top of the can, pressed the button, and the can open started rotating around the top of the can. THAT'S IT!!! I didn't have to fidget with positioning. I just sat it on top of the lid with the can opening part where I thought it should sit. The can opener does continue to rotate around the lid even after it has completely cut the lid BUT you do hear a difference in sound once the lid has been completely severed. I pressed the on/off button again and the can opener stopped. I removed the can opener and then lifted the lid off. No sharp edges, no muss, no fuss. I have only opened several different sized cans before writing this review which is why I promised to come back and report if any problems develop. This can opener is a life changer for me in the kitchen. I had gotten to the point where I had to get my husband to help me remove lids on cans because it was just too painful for me to do myself. This can opener is everything I hoped it would be and more. Now I just hope it continues to work as fantastically as it does right now. I LOVE THIS THING!!! My aging in place kitchen is just about complete. I have several reacher grabbers, 2 wonderful basket air fryers, a 6 quart Instant Pot, and the best can opener I could ever ask for. Now I just need to find the perfect affordable opener for lids on jars, and an easy to use lemon juicer.

I love my can opener! I have had it since 11/2024 and still enjoy opening a can. It runs quiet and smooth and my aged hands don't complain! The sleek black and silver look great on the counter. It doesn't slide while using it. It takes up minimal counter space. It feels very solid using it and best of all no more sharp edges!

We bought this nearly a year ago now in October of 2025. I was not a fan of the idea of an electric can opener ... I'm a little old-school ... I just wanted my old Swing=Away can opener but they are no longer made as well as the much older ones were. We even tried different brands of the same style/type and they just didn't work well at all. My husband wanted an electric one anyway so I finally broke down. We tried one, I forget which brand ... I hated it. The can had to get in just right for it to work at all and that was not always an easy thing to manage. UGH!!! We agreed to try this one ... It could NOT be easier ... just put the can up there, lower the 'handle' and away it goes! It cuts the top off, rather than creating just an inside-the-top type thing, but does a good job of rounding that off so it does not become just a slice-your-finger-mechanism. For an electric can opener I can't recommend this highly enough. SO easy and quick!

READ THE DIRECTIONS..... FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS.... and then be prepared to fall in love with this can opener. At first, I thought I had followed the instructions, but I had not. Tried a second time, and it worked perfectly. No sharp edges, and you can use the lid to reseal the can. (Make sure you are opening the TOP of the can.) Why did it take so long for someone to invent this ????

Je suis très satisfait de cet ouvre-boîtes. Il est simple à utiliser, rapide et particulièrement pratique. Il ouvre les boîtes sans avoir à forcer et la manipulation est beaucoup plus confortable qu’avec un ouvre-boîtes manuel. Le système de coupe est également appréciable puisqu’il évite les bords coupants sur la boîte. J’aime aussi son fonctionnement assez silencieux et son design moderne, qui s’intègre facilement sur le comptoir. Il permet d’ouvrir différentes tailles de boîtes sans difficulté particulière. Petit point négatif : l’appareil prend un peu plus de place qu’un ouvre-boîtes manuel et le nettoyage autour du mécanisme demande parfois un peu d’attention. Dans l’ensemble, c’est un excellent ouvre-boîtes électrique, , qui simplifie vraiment le travail en cuisine.
