Unfortunately the battery is too thick to allow the back plate to stay on without popping off. I've used other brand extended batteries and I'm aware that extended batteries require some extra effort to get the back plate to stay on but this one would not work no matter how many times I tried. Even when I did manage to get the back plate to stay it popped off within 30 seconds. The battery charged fine (in an external charger, not in the phone).
